They were surrounded by the chirping daffodils she had painstakingly cultivated, the flowers' genjutsu melodies rendering their conversation inaudible to the rest of the party-goers, who were mere steps away.
"Hitting on a girl at her incredibly powerful father's party? How very brave of you," Ino replied with a smirk, coyly looking at Kiba, who was still staring at her in as if he'd never been within touching distance of a woman in a kimono before. Then again, knowing the ladies in his family, that was entirely possible.
"Well, when I see someone as enchanting as you, I can't just let her go like a total idiot."
"Promise?"
And before Kiba could craft a clever response, she had whisked herself away, leaving only a vague hint of orange blossoms and an unspoken challenge in her wake.
