The boots were first. Unzipped and unlaced and toed off and left side by side, two pairs of sturdy black leather steel toes in a neat row just inside the front door. Cloud's pauldron and heavy canvas sleeve and half-skirt and all of Leon's belts were next, left in loose piles on the floor where they fell because of Cloud's warning glare.
After that (and the challenge in Mako-blue eyes when the blond roughly stripped off Leon's jacket and tossed it carelessly on some piece of furniture), the brunet seemed content to let things fall where they may: his shirt and Cloud's sweater, two pairs of black pants and socks and boxers and finally, his gloves, all scattered in a chaotic line leading from the front door of Cloud's house, down the hall to the middle of his bedroom. He didn't get a chance to help Cloud out of his gloves before the blond was touching his cheek, and their next kiss caught him off guard, brief and chaste and soft, as if by accident. Cloud immediately drew back, eyes bright and wide and touched with uncertainty, and Leon's own eyes softened a little in reassurance, though they betrayed no less than Cloud's. Soft wasn't something either of them was really used to.
A long moment passed that way, both transfixed by the other's gaze, exchanging shallow breaths and sharing slow near-kisses saturated with anticipation. Leon found Cloud's other hand, held awkwardly at his side, and tugged off that glove methodically, finger by finger, before dropping it to the floor. He leaned into the gloved hand still cradling his cheek, then wrapped his fingers around Cloud's wrist and pulled it down to do the same. It fell to the floor as well, landing atop its twin with a quiet thud.
Laid bare for his whole world to see, Leon slowly tilted his chin up to press their lips together once more, and this time neither pulled back.
