"On the stage that the both of us once stood on,
You stayed, and I left."
Prologue
"MASKS
She had blue skin.
And so did he.
He kept it hid
And so did she.
They searched for blue
Their whole life through,
Then passed right by –
And never knew."
-Shel Silverstein
"Dear Matthew,
It's been a while since the two of us talked, how have you been?
I'm fine here, in Taiwan. The autumn wind felt nice, but it's still a little chilly for me. I bet you will ask why since I should be used to the cold, as I was born and raised in Canada. I miss those days where we could ski and play with the snow.
Hey, remember that promise under that star filled sky? You promised me to get attached by the end of the month, right? I don't care if it's a guy or a girl, just get married to that person and come see me.
Just kidding! Haha! I got you there didn't I?
You must be thinking, "Since when did I promised this girl something I wouldn't even agree to?!"
Alright, jokes aside!
Tomorrow is the day isn't it?
As you had promised, you shall help me retrieve my time capsule if I could not make it.
And yes, I couldn't make it in time.
No, frankly speaking, my time is up.
Matthew.
Could you please, grant my final wish?
Upon collecting my letter in the time capsule,
Please don't open it.
Instead, burn it.
Into ashes and dust.
Please…grant my wish…
I shall stop now…I'm so sleepy….so sleepy…
Matthew, do you have any regrets—no, it's okay.
Take care!
With love,
Sharon
"Sharon, would you like me to mail this for you?" The private nurse asked gently as she slipped the letter into a brown envelope.
Sharon gave a weak nod as she cringe in pain.
"Jenny, tomorrow is the day, isn't it?" Sharon clenched her teeth as tears came streaming down her pale cheeks.
Jenny hugged her and said, "Don't be silly, girl. Nobody knows what tomorrow holds." She gave her a light pat on Sharon's head.
"Come on, It's time for your radiotherapy." Jenny swiftly slid the letter into her pocket,
"Jenny." Sharon's lips are still trembling, "Do you have any regrets?"
"Sharon…"
If I could turn back the clock,
Will everything be different?
Will I be happier?
An intense pain was radiating from her abdomen, as if somebody was stabbing her with a blunt knife.
Sharon's world was spinning as her vision blurred.
"Sharon! Doctor-"
And then, everything went black.
