Late for Halloween? Yes, but just in time for the sale on the leftover candy. =)
It was coming up quickly. Just one more day until the anticipated date when he could wander freely and no one would think twice about his covered face. The free bag of candy he could collect was a nice bonus too.
It was the one day a year he truly loved to act like a kid when normally he would find the actions of his year-mates to be foolish. He'd been busy this year though with his cases and hadn't yet chosen an outfit. There were so many choices, even discounting the ones he'd used in previous years. To be anonymous he couldn't be linked to an area or distinctive look. A covered face or not it wouldn't do to be complacent and use the same costume each year and so he was left to think of which look he desired this time and to pick new area to be taken to this year.
The area he would leave up to Wammy, as he didn't particularly care for the specifics of a place he wouldn't visit again. The costume however was to be entirely his choice as always.
What do I choose? There are the classics of course. Ghosts, goblins, mummies and such things. They would draw far less attention than something elaborate, though I've already gone as a ghost so I suppose that's off the list. Or maybe something a little different... hmm, a lot of children now dress as characters from games, shows or their favorite stories, if a large percentage of them do so the ordinary costumes will stand out. Perhaps I'll research some of the popular games and tv series for next year. This year I think something generic will do. A ninja maybe? There are those fighting games that contain them and they certainly have masks. Or maybe a grim reaper? The cloak and mask will cover not only my face but my body's proportions as well. I suppose that will suffice. Next year I'll put more effort into it, for now I'll inform Wammy of my choice so the appropriate pieces can be acquired.
Not a very good piece but I wasn't exactly planning on writing one, just sitting eating candy and I thought of L and his b-day. The grim reaper part was a side idea for irony's sake…
