Something To Hold Onto

Notes: This fic is set towards the end of episode 34, but I'm sure you could've figured that out for yourself.

Miyako's sleeping habits didn't surprise Momoko. Anyone else would've been teased for still needing a stuffed animal and a nightlight to go to sleep but with Miyako such quirks seem to suit her rather naturally.

Looking at her sleep, Momoko couldn't help but envy Miyako.

The girls spent half of the night dealing with strange noises, moving furniture and flying cleaning utensils and yet Miyako was still able to fall asleep afterwards as if nothing happened. Truth be told Miyako probably wouldn't have even noticed that her house had turned into a monster in the first place and would have slept right through the 'haunting' if Momoko and Kaoru didn't try to wake her up over every little thing.

Miyako could sleep through anything as long as she had Octi by her side.

Momoko's body froze as she felt something tug her hair. Were the ghosts back? She slowly turned her head and was surprised by what she saw.

It wasn't a ghost.

It was Kaoru!

Kaoru had latched herself onto Momoko's long orange hair and was stroking it while whispering to herself "I am a good fighter, I am a good fighter..."

This was a side to the tomboy that Momoko never knew existed. Kaoru always seemed to be an indomitable pillar of strength and although she did show some signs of femininity on rare occasions this was the first time she looked so helpless. It was almost like she was suddenly a completely different person.

Did Kaoru always sleep like that or was this because of what happened tonight?

Momoko couldn't decide and she didn't have the heart to wake Kaoru and ask. Instead the pink eyed girl shifted into a more comfortable position and tried to fall asleep herself. After closing her eyes Momoko couldn't help but mutter "What am I suppose to hold onto?"
