"Kia…" a voice echoed. "…Kia"

Kai looked forward, her brown eyes wide in fear and horror. "W…wa…what" she stammered

The steam from her hot chocolate swirled in the air and formed into smoke. A shape of a black cat stood in front of her. "My name is 400"

The girl sat down next to what was now a fully formed cat. "…Hi..." Kia hesitated.

"Don't worry…" 400 said. "I'm your friend."

"Friend?" She replied. Looking at the cat she went out to pet him but vanished among her grasp. Kia turned her head and scanned the room. But he was gone.

Kia looked forward . 400 sat in front of her, his chest puffed out and his tail wrapped around his paws. The girl jumped back crawling backward. She took a breath and sighed. "Calm down.." the cat said lazily.

"Who are you?" Kia asked.

"A piece of you…" 400 meowed. "…I guess… I could just say only you can see me."

"I don't get," Kia looked at him as if he had 2 heads. A piece of me? She thought to herself. How is that possible?

"Don't get what?" Her mom walked into the room.

"I have a new friend!" Well kind of she thought darkly

"You do?" he mom asked. Her expression darkened. Her eyes clouded in worry.

"Yeah! His name is 400. He is a black cat" Kia looked at her mom. She wished her mom would stop worrying.

"Is he friendly?"

"Kind of" Kia fidgeted. "I don't know…"

"Well let's hope he is." Her mother murmured half to herself. Kia looked away from her. 400 stood staring at her. He smiled wide which took up half his face. Kia shivered in fear. The cat vanished out of sight leaving the words 'see yeah' lingering in the air "Lunch is ready if you're hungry"

"Ma, I'm starving!" she smiled. Getting off the ground she glanced towards the window. A girl stood staring though the glass at her… "Mom…"

"Yes?" She looked at her daughter concerned. "What is it?"

"There is a girl in the window…" Kia pointed at a twelve year old girl. The girl had black straight hair and deep red eyes that gleamed with mischief. She wore black ripped jeans and a white camisole with a red vest over it. The girl waved at her.

Kia's mother looked at her. "What?"

"There is a.." Kai looked at the ten year old. Sshhh….the girl put her finger over her lip. "Never mind"

Her mother knelt down. "What is it?' Her eyes blared into hers. She twirled her fingers through her golden hair. "You can tell me anything." She insisted.

Kia nodded. She thought it best to keep this to herself for right now. Her mom worried about her a lot, especially because of her meeting new friends. Her mother told her it was not normal seeing things no one else can but Kia thought she had nice friends. Well, except Wednesday the rat. He tends to be extremely bossy so she tries to ignore him, ok… maybe most of the time.

Her mother stood up with a grunt. She stared out the window unaware of the girl in the window staring back at her. Kia sighs. Why do these people not appear to others… Kia thought, why do I have to be the only one who sees them? Kia looked away. Will there be a time where I can be alone? "What is alone?" the girl said curiously. "You will never be alone…. All of us are your friends." She said. "I am Toma"

Kia turned instantly towards her. "Never?..." Kia shrieked. Will I be like this forever? She asked herself darkly. As her mom turned around the girl quickly began to vanish but three of her friends appeared. I wish I could be alone from everyone…
