Death of Captain Rex (Star Wars Rebels)

Rex was up against five stormtroopers. He had his helmet with him and a blaster. He shot one in the chest and the soldier fell to the ground. Just as he went to shoot another, one came up from his left and shot him in the side and then the leg.

Before Rex could get up, however, the clone was knocked onto his back and the enemy was on top of him. The clone fought to throw him off, but it all happened so fast.

The stormtrooper shot Rex straight in the chest, barely missing the clone's heart. The stormtrooper got off of him, saying "This one's dead." All of the other stormtroopers began walking off. All, but one.

The remaining trooper, the commander, stared at Rex through his helmet. He aimed his blaster and shot down his three men, who dropped dead. Then he threw down his blaster and raced over to Rex's side, taking his helmet off.

The stormtrooper had a look of mental pain and sadness on his old face. He had white hair and a scar on his face.

"You were a clone once," Rex forced out. There was pain and sadness in his voice as he remembered Order 66. "You betrayed your general and you join the right side now?" The clone shook his head, sadly.

"I did what I had to do then, Rex." The stormtrooper said. "I had the chip in me, but not anymore. Time I fight for the Republic again."

"What's your number, trooper?" Rex asked him.

"CC-2224." The soldier looked him in the eye. "Missed you, Rex."

"Cody?" Rex gasped.

The commander nodded.

Rex painfully reached both hands to his head and took his helmet off too. He dropped it to the ground and used his arms to try to sit up. "Been since the Clone Wars." He groaned.

Cody nodded. "I'm glad to see you again."

"Me too." Rex told him. "Gregor and Wolfe are still alive too. Tell them I said hi." His voice was now barely above a whisper. He hugged Cody for the last time, his breathing stopping right after the hug. His body went limp and his eyes closed.

Captain Rex of the 501st Legion was dead.
