The Dance
By Knifey Tenoh
A song fic inspired by the song "Don't let me down" by Skin: Fleshwounds
A/N: I don't own Sailor Moon and related characters; they belong to Naoko Takeuchi and Kodansha Monthly. Skin is her own person and is a goddess.. mwaha!
"You always say,
I want too much,
Is it such a crime,
To want more than your love,
Oh baby...
Why have you frozen now?"
As I looked into her deep ocean blue eyes I felt complete. I brushed my blonde locks out of my eyes in an attempt to look at her creamy white face more. Our hands instantly entwined and I felt whole. The music pouring in from the CD player only made the moment more passionate. I wondered to myself if she was goddess in one of her past lives. She was so elegant and graceful, so unlike myself. She moved in slowly against my tall frame and leaned her head softly on my shoulder. Her sweet intoxicating scent filled me with warmth. I could help but smile and pull her closer. I really wish I could have held her sooner…
"I can't conceive,
The way this feels,
You've grown so cold,
Like you're counting the tears,
Oh baby..
Why have you frozen now?"
Her one hand resting on my arm and the other in my hand we gently rocked to the song. I could picture every curve and grace of her body moving when I shut my eyes. I placed my chin softly on her head and sighed in content ness. How could it be possible that this girl, whom I had only recently met, could share a bond this close to me? I ran my hand slowly down her waist and felt her thin body. I wondered if the stress in her life was the reason she was ill often. I wanted to make all her trouble fade then. I moved my hand from her waist to her back and rubbed in soft circles massaging the knots out of her slender back. I could almost see her silky skin in the back of my mind as she breathed a sigh of happiness. The female vocalist seemed to know every feeling I felt then. How I felt alone, how I longed to be closer to this beauty in my arms and mostly how I shouldn't had been so cold. I couldn't have been more wrong to ignore her...
"And you say it doesn't matter,
We'll always be,
The best of friends,
Don't let me down..
Don't let me down...
Don't let me down....
Don't let me down....."
I close my eyes tighter holding back my urge to then drop to my knees and beg for her forgiveness. I love her so. She's always been watching me. Loving me. And I ignored her like an ass. She told me how much she cared even when I pushed her away again and again. She's so strong, I envy her...
"I've always said,
I can't abuse,
Your lies for life,
And the choices you choose,
Oh baby..
Why have we broken now?"
She told me to be true to myself. To be open and life would be fine. But how could I, when all I could do was run away. I'm such a coward. I watched her from afar, being alone, scared and so very strong in times I would have run. I wondered why she choose to live that way, then I found out…
"And say it doesn't matter,
We'll always… the best friends,
Still I need you to stay right here,
Don't let me down.
Don't let me down..
Don't let me down…
Don't let me down…."
She had pure dreams. She was so honest and loyal even when she suffered. Playing with her hair in my fingers I wondered why she had given up her dreams for me. I didn't have much to offer, being a poor and not really being a people person. I never will see what made her want me. But I don't want her to ever leave…
I wanted the song to go on forever. But sadly it ended. I moved back slightly to look at this innocent girl in my arms. I smiled.
"I love you, Michiru.." Was the only thing I could say.
"I love you, Haruka." She smiled and kissed me. I'll never forget that dance or her..
