Stuffed bears everyday. Ever since her birthday. Their first day as a couple. But he never said "I love you". Not once.
It was Momo's birthday today, their first anniversary. One year together.
Momo had a party, and Kiley didn't come. She couldn't contact him, either. That night, she texted him, saying,
"You didn't come today. Did you forget my birthday? You didn't even greet me."
The reply came the next day, Kiley had told her to meet him in front of the café near her house. Momo was still hurt at what Kiley had done, but nonetheless, she still went.
When she arrived, she saw Kiley with a big pink bear. She walked over to him, picked up the bear and threw it across the street.
Kiley had a pained expression on his face. Momo felt pity for him, but she couldn't take it anymore. Kiley had done enough to hurt her.
Kiley walked over to the bear, and in that moment, a car came speeding by.
Momo only remembered seeing Kiley pick up the bear, and the next second he was lying on the road, bleeding. She could only watch, as people started to crowd over him. An ambulance soon came, and brought him to the hospital. An old lady walked over to Momo, carrying the bear with her.
"This was for you, wasn't it?"
"Y…Yes."
Momo took the bear after thanking the old lady. It was covered in Kiley's blood.
She brought it home with her. She went in her room. Bears. 365 of them. Kiley had given them all. Everyday for a year.
She got mad at these, these material things. They meant nothing to her. She wanted to feel that Kiley loved her. If ever he did.
What if Kiley never loved me?
She picked up a bear, and threw it to the floor.
"I love you."
wh…what??
She picked up another one, this time trying to find a button. She pressed it,
"I love you."
Then and there, she regretted everything she had done to hurt Kiley. She stared at the biggest bear, and then hugged it…
"I love you, and I'm so sorry. I was too scared to tell you how I felt."
Kiley…
Her cellphone rang, she picked it up.
"Hello?"
"Momo? It's Toji."
"Is there a problem?"
"I was in the hospital to visit my mother today, and as I was about to leave, they wheeled in Kiley…"
"Is he alright?!"
"He didn't make it… he got into a car accident."
Momo dropped her phone on the floor, and she could faintly hear Toji's voice. She didn't care anymore. She had lost the love of her life. She knew that there was still a way for them to be together.
Only one way.
She went into her bathroom, picking up a blade. She slowly sliced open her wrists, she wanted to feel the pain that Kiley felt. She watched as the blood trickled down her arm. Her vision was getting blurry, and with her last breath, she said…
"Wait for me, Kiley."
