Some things fade with time. Stories and legends, minor details of major historical events, memories of childhood. Some things can even be erased from time completely, although that can have severe consequences on the universe, greater than not knowing if Queen Victoria ever actually said "We are not amused!".
Some things though, will never be faded out, not completely. The Doctor knows this better than anyone. He sighs and smiles a small, sad smile as he glances up at his Impossible Girl.
