"What's going on?" Draco said to himself. "I'm being nice to Gryffindors and I'm happy only when I'm not teasing Hermione, Potter, and Weasley." "I mean what's going on with me. I think I'm in love, but with who?" Draco's mind floated around to all the girls he knew, "Lets see I know Hermione, Parvati, Lavender, Millicent, Penelope, and others. But I know its one of these! Hurry Up Draco, think! Not Millicent she's a Slytherin and I'm being nice to Gryffindors, Not Penelope for the same reason, Parvati's too weird I mean she believes in Professor Trelawnley and not Lavender for the same reason. So that leaves...HERMIONE!
Meanwhile back in the Gryffindor common room, Hermione was thinking also about love. I don't know I mean I have tried hanging out with every boy in school and I don't like any of them. There's only one left and its ....Draco Malfoy?
I just don't understand it, I mean no Gryffindor and Slytherin are supposed to be love, I know I read it somewhere before in one of my books. But which one? Her mind was tossing between Draco and books should she give Draco a chance or should she just forget about it all and go study. Sure, it would sound like Hermione to go study but she decided to give Draco a chance and give up studying for a while. Draco meanwhile had just told Goyle and Crabbe that he wouldn't be needing them anymore. Finally, it was time for potions, Gryffindor and Slytherin were working together again. However, when they got there Snape said there had been an accident and they would have to share cauldrons, Immediately Harry, Ron and Hermione got around one cauldron but Snape said but you must work with someone you've never worked with before. So Potter, you'll go with Crabbe, and Weasley, you'll go with Goyle, and Miss Granger you'll work with Draco. Draco's face went even paler, "what if he said something or messed something up that made Hermione know that he liked her. Meanwhile Hermione was thinking the same thing. The potion went along perfectly until they both reached for the same potion ingredient and their hands touched. Draco pulled his hand away and looked very embarrassed and let Hermione add the ingredient. Everything went perfectly after that until the game of Quidditch with Hufflepuff vs. Slytherin. After the game Draco felt it was time to see if Hermione liked him too.
So he asked if she wanted a ride on his Nimbus Two Thousand and One broomstick. Millicent thought he was asking her and excited she said yes, but Draco ignored her and flew over to Hermione who was all alone reading her book and asked her but she said she couldn't fly well but Draco insisted that she go for a ride so hesitantly she got on and Draco took off across the Quidditch field and Hermione no longer looked scared instead she looks as if all her dreams had come true, Draco instantly said without thinking, "I like you" and to his surprise she replied "I like you too". They decided to keep it a secret and to stay close to Hermione, Draco decided out with Hermione, Harry, and Ron.
