Figuring out what to get for Yamaguchi Kumiko's (aka Yankumi) birthday should be as easy as figuring out those ridiculously elementary school math problems she gave to her class. So why was Sawada Shin having a hard time thinking about what to get her? She was simple-minded, stubborn, and a tomboy all around.
Yankumi was a hard person to shop for Shin mused. Her birthday was coming up in less than two weeks and so far walking around the mall twice didn't help out. Maybe he should've asked the guys for help.
No…he shook his head. That would've been a bad idea.
Or girls were hard to shop for. But it wasn't true he thought. Shopping for his sister, Natsumi, was easy since he somehow always knew what she wanted. Every year Natsumi had a different obsession. Last year she had become obsessed with makeup so that's what he got her.
However with Yankumi, on the other hand…
He knew he didn't want to get her jerseys as much as he hated to admit that they looked good on her. Shin would get her a skirt only if that cheerleading outfit she wore to capture the thief didn't scar him, albeit it was funny.
Stuffed animals were out of the question too.
He had to get her something that was neither cute (one that he would not be embarrassed to give to her in public) or reminded her of the past that he was a student.
Shin was a man now and he wanted her to notice that he was no longer her student.
'Think Shin think,' he thought.
Suddenly it clicked to him and he smirked…figuring out the answer he put his hand into his pocket and walked out the mall.
Why didn't he think of it sooner?
