When the Boy Smiles...

Ch.1 Not Good Enough

Ambrosia hit the alarm clock with enough force to knock it off the nightstand. Lately sleep had become her only friend but with the move, and time difference she severely lacked it. As her feet hit the cold floor she was ready to scream at the top of her lungs. The first day of school, actually it hadn't even begun yet, and she was already tempted to puke her brains out in her dark blue toilet bowl. Deciding against it merely because she didn't want the residents of Tree Hill to remember her smelling like vomit.

She found it ironic in some way that the first thoughts in her head when she woke up were of how much life sucked. Shrugging those things off AJ walked into her bathroom, stripped, and stepped in to her shower. Then, pressed for time, she cut it short from her usual hour long one and settled for 10 minuets. Showers seemed to make her forget what was happening in her life, and she could just focus on the water washing away the world.

Stepping out AJ moved to her walk in closet and sighed, the best thing she could find was a disappointing. Her whole life was disappointing; she was just about to let out a long line of curses when she remembered that when they'd moved from New York they'd brought a box of her sister's clothes. In case she ever came home. In her boxers and bra she walked out of her room and down to the hall closet. Standing on the tiptoes of her thin 5'5 figure she barely reached the top shelf.

About twenty minuets later she was dressed in stonewashed jeans, low even for low-rise, a white strapless, and a pair of dark blue Etnies. Looking over her vanity she found a pair of fat silver hoop earrings, then decided to leave her dark brown hair down. Usually she could care less about what she looked like but on the first day; she'd make an effort.

"Ambrosia Justice Aphrodite Rhodes, you get your tiny little butt down here and eat some break-fast." The voice belonged to Rose, their Latino maid. Rose may as well of been her mother, she raised her since she was a baby. AJ had those kind of parents who just give their children credit cards and expect them to raise themselves.

"My name is AJ, when are you going to start calling me by it?" AJ shouted as she ran down the spiral staircase. They always had the same conversation when she started a new school.

"The only thing those parents of yours have done for you is to give you good name. Beautiful name to match beautiful girl, now eat! I can see your hip bones in those, those low jeans!" AJ shook her head. She was hungry as hell but for some reason she didn't want to take a chance eating. Like it'd make her fat for the first day of school or something.

"Don't have time Rosy, sorry." She gave her a kiss on the cheek, grabbed her keys off the counter, and ran out the door. Sitting in the driveway was her baby. Her fire engine red mustang with tan leather interior, and a max speed of 250 mph. Quickly she threw her backpack next to her and jumped in the car, put the key in the ignition, and floored it into the street.
