A Blaze Tangle Story
Book 2: Reunion
Chapter 1: Coon Search
It has been over a month since Blaze the Cat and Tangle the Lemur had taken down Infinite and sent him back to the Chaos Dimension. However, the two of them have found no traces of Marine the Raccoon since that day. This worried both girls for different reasons.
Blaze was scowering the Plant Kingdom clawing into one of the mushrooms. "Still no sign of her."
Tangle lowers herself down in front of Blaze upside down by her own tail. "I know you're worried about Marine and all, but I think you need to calm down."
"It's not entirely about her, Tangle. Part of it is you as well."
"Huh?" She jumps down in front of her. "Why me?"
"You've been here for over a month at this point. Since then, nothing has happened to the world around us."
Tangle scratches her head a bit. "You mean that me being here could be a problem for our worlds?"
"Normally it is. It happened before when I entered your world the first time and when Sonic entered mine, but for some reason it's not happening with you."
"Did Sonic have the Chaos Emeralds when he entered your world?"
Blaze then ponders her question. "That may be. Our worlds only started going haywire when the two sets of Emeralds were in close proximity."
"Maybe that's it."
"However, when Sonic entered my world, it was as if the Chaos Emeralds wanted to be here."
The two continued their back and forth over the state of their situation. During this time, a few figures in hoods leaped across from the mushrooms overhead.
Blaze catches sight of one of their shadows as she looks up. "Someone's here?"
Tangle readies her tail. "You think it's Marine or someone else?"
"The shadow was too big to be hers. We're being followed." She runs towards one of the plants and runs up it heading for the space above.
Tangle swings herself up to the top from a low hanging tree branch. She lands beside Blaze looking around. "Where'd they go?"
"They could be anywhere. Be on guard."
As they stood their ground, several hooded figures leaped down before them. One of them spoke. "Princess Blaze of the Fire Kingdom?"
"You know me?" She raises her hand with a ball of flame at her disposal.
Another figure swings their arm sending a force of air towards her putting out her flame.
"Huh?" She looks at the other one.
Tangle looked at them shocked. "You guys and control wind?"
"Don't let them distract you, Tangle."
One of the figures puts their hood down revealing themselves to be a brown hedgehog with short quills. "We mean you no harm. We hail from the Air Syndicate."
Blaze lowers her arms upon this realization. "Right. The Air Syndicate."
Tangle looks at her then the hedgehog. "So you're a group of air movers?"
The hedgehog nods. "You can say that. I am Bernard, assistant to Queen Zephyr. It is nice to meet you, Tangle."
"Wait,…how do you know my name?"
Their conversation is interrupted as a few airborne mechs swarm in around them.
Blaze rushes for them firing her flames at them one by one.
The air movers take to defense and begin fending off the mechs projectiles.
Bernard looks to Tangle. "Be careful, Tangle. These machines show no mercy."
Tangle turns as one of the mechs was charging at her fast. "Ahh!" She thrusts her hands forward as if to stop it, but something else happened instead. A gust of wind pushes the mech away from her a considerable distance.
Blaze as Bernard look at the lemur in surprise as the remaining mechs retreat to where they came.
Tangle looks at her hands as she felt mixed emotions. "Did I…?"
Bernard approaches her holding his hand out. "Perhaps we could take this discussion elsewhere."
"Yeah. That sounds like a good idea." She takes Bernard's hand as he leads the way.
Blaze follows them close standing beside Tangle. She looks to one of the others with questions. "How could that have happened?"
The others did not say a word as they too were in shock.
The girls followed the air movers as they lead them out of the Plant Kingdom. Where they were going was not known to them yet, but it would soon be revealed to them, hopefully with some answers.
