Harry Potter and the Midnight Assassin

AN; This is my first story. I spent a long time planning this story and I'm only 14, so please dont be too harsh. Enjoy!

Chapter 1- prologue

The slopes of Zugspitze, Germany

It was a cold night. So cold in fact that the rocky slopes currently being climbed, were covered with a thin layer of ice. However, this didn't deter the man doing the climbing. He was a short man, with a crooked nose and a slightly dazed expression, and matted, dirty blonde hair that was so long, that it became a hindrance in the man's quest.

For nigh on 60 years the man had worked toward this moment, chipping away at an almost impossible mission. Finding the location and researching and destroying the wards of the prison his own master had built. The man stopped and doubled over, puffing and panting in an effort to regain his breath. As he calmed and is heart rate slowed, the man stood up straight. He looked around and observed his surroundings. He stood atop the huge mountain he had been climbing in the past 6 hours, the wards had prevented him from using magical means. But he had finally reached his destination, the large featureless, flattened top of the gargantuan mountain. The man's wrinkled face broke into a wide, crazy grin.

As moments passed, his expression changed from elation to grim determination. He took a step forward raising his hands. He pushed his hands against a giant solid invisible barrier. Wards. He shook his head slightly and shuffled slowly to his left, his hands never leaving the barrier. He traced a large circular path and came to a stop, opposite where he had begun. He took a step back, unsheathed his wand and prepared himself for the task ahead. Finally he spoke;

'Destro murum invsibl! Humanis concedere adeundi! Magi sine morte transire!' the man finiehed the incantation with a flourish of his wand.

The effect was instantanious. The invisible barrier solidified into a crystal-like glass dome. The dome proceded to shatter into a million peices and fall toward the ground dangerously, like javelin. However when the shards fell near the man he didnt take a backward step, for when the glass hit the ground, or anything solid for that matter, it simply disolved.

The man couldn't help but stare at the large castle, revealed now the wards were gone, several storeys high and made of marble feet thick, in awe. He quickly stepped forward and looked relieved to remain unharmed and alive. He had conquered the wards.

The man entered the castle and retraced the steps he had taken so many times in his youth. He turned around one of the many corners and headed downstairs, underground into the torchlit underground tunnels. He soon found himself in the dungeons. He strided forward until he came to the very last locked dungeon. He eonce again extended his wand and blew open the door.

'Bombarda!'

As the dust cleared a skinny man in a fetal position was revealed. For a second he looked dead but he then looked up and cracked a wry smile.

'About time you got here old friend. Welcome back to Numengard,' Said Grindlewald.

AN: see if you can guess who the man is that's found Grindlewald.
