A/N: Welcome to my first Monk fanfic! I've been wanting to write this idea out for a few days now, so I hope you enjoy this simple fic for one of my favorite shows ever! I'd like to mention that I wrote this fic back in the beginning of 2008. With the final episode, several things needed to be updated. Basically just references to Randy and Natalie marrying as well as references to him being a lieutenant. Obviously, if you watched the series finale, you know why I had to update this story. Anyway, enjoy! In an otherwise empty cemetery, a car parked on the side of the road. Two men in dark suits climbed out.

"Here we are," Stottlemeyer said walking over to the side of the car Monk stood.

However, Monk remained silent for a moment as he clutched the rose in his hand. "That was Trudy's favorite, wasn't it?"

"She loved these," Monk replied nodding. "I remember she always thought they were so pretty."

"She had a great taste in flowers," Stottlemeyer said, in encouragement for his friend. "But I think Trudy would like to see it."

"You're right," Monk agreed. "I'll be right back."

With the rose in hand, Monk slowly approached Trudy's grave. When he approached,

Monk simply looked down to his wife's grave in silence for a several seconds.

"Hi Trudy," Monk said smiling. "I have some great news to tell you. The wedding was this morning."

"Do you remember the woman who helped me recover after your death? Sharona?" Monk asked, referencing his talks of her on his visits here. "She and Randy married. He's the chief of police now in Summit, New Jersey."

Monk clasped his hands tighter for a moment.

"I know they are going to be really happy with one another," he said. It was then that his heart became noticeably heavy.

"It reminded me the day we married," he continued. "You were so beautiful that day. But of course that's not hard to believe because there was never a day you weren't the most beautiful woman in my world. I knew the first day we met I wanted to spend the rest of my life with you."

Monk wiped his eyes as they filled with tears. He paused for a moment and continued.

"I miss you Trudy," he said. "I still love you just as much as I always have. Every day it feels like an eternity without you." Monk placed the rose in the vase and walked back with his hands in his pockets to where Stottlemeyer stood.

"Trudy would have been happy for Randy and Sharona."

"Yes she would have," Stottlemeyer replied. "She was a great woman." Monk smiled, through the tears still evident in his eyes. "You okay?"

"Yeah," Monk said. "I just really miss her."

"I know you do Monk," Stottlemeyer said. "One day you'll see her again."

"I hope so," Monk said. "I hope you'll be there too when I see her again. You're my best friend, after all."

"I'm your best friend, huh?" Stottlemeyer asked with a chuckle as they got back in the car and drove off.

"How clean do you think Heaven is?"

The question was followed by a short silence.

"You're one of a kind, Monk. You're one of a kind."
