She hated herself for not being able to help her Ashikabi.
She was supposed to be a shield but how can she defend against an illness.
Her strength ment nothing in the face of the hordes of microscopic invaders that had the power to destroy humans from within.
She can't recite her norito and make them go away. She can only watch from the sidelines as Chiho whittles away and hold her hand when the pain is so great that she whimpers in her sleep.
Then he had come, the faint glimmer of hope had come to the room which was heavy with the stench of impending death and told her that Chiho didn't need to whiter like this. Her strength could be used to save her beloved Ashikabi.
That hope soon turned sour as she was forced to do things that made her unworthy to bask in the light that shone from Chihos eyes. Her hands were drenched in blood, so she had not touched her Ashikabi since then.
The demon that held the strings of life to her Ashikabi asked too much. Ordered to kill her friends, she was weeping next to Chiho and with a final goodbye she left. Off to do the demons bidding in hopes of giving her Ashikabi a chance of salvation.
As she watched the sky, blood was pooling around her and she smiled. Now Chiho would be free, free of the burden she had thrusted to her, free of pain and free of the hospital. Her only regret was that she was not there to share Chiho's happiness, not that she could. With her final breath she shouted her love for Chiho, and a with a breeze her veils fluttered no more.
"You idiot. I would have traded the world for you." Chiho cried and hugged the gravestone in desperation. The graves had only few words.
