"Hey, um Katie?" Travis nervously approached the girl kneeling alone in the garden. Her hair blew gently in the cool breeze, and the sunset reflected in her curious eyes as she looked up at him.

"Yes, Travis?" the girl asked, an undertone of exasperation in her voice.

"Well, uh, I just wanted to tell you that I, um that I really like you, Katie. I think you're beautiful, and sweet, and kind, and I just... I like you." Travis said. For the first time in his life, he didn't have some brilliant stared nervously at the ground.

Katie stood up and faced him. "Travis...You're annoying, and you can never be serious, and you're constantly bugging me, and half the time all I want is to slap you right in the face."

Travis winced. He knew this would happen. He just had to go out and proclaim his feelings. "People change. I can change, Katie." He looked up at her pleadingly.

Katie took another step toward him, so they were nearly touching, and kissed him right on the mouth. Travis' eyes flew open, but after a second he melted into the kiss. Katie pulled back, barely an inch.

"I don't want you to change."
