Chapter one Ami

"Be careful out there Ami ok." Ami's boss said to her as she was leaving for the night. Ami worked afternoons at a supermarket. "I will thanks sir I will see you Monday." She replied.

It was a warm summer's night and Ami only lived a few blocks from the market. She enjoyed walking home during

nights like this even though it wasn't really the best of neighborhoods to be walking alone in. As she was getting closer to her home, she began to hear loud voices arguing and to see flashes of light. She walked closer to the

disturbance wondering what was going on. Without warning, she was blown off her feet and her body slammed into

a parked car, knocking her out cold. Two large figures appeared before the wreckage. "Oh man is she still alive?" asked one "Let us hope so." said the larger of the two as he bent down and carefully picked the girl up and cradled

her in his muscular arms and they disappeared into a beam of light.

Ami slowly opened her eyes; she looked around at the brightly lit room. She was lying in a large comfortable

hospital bed. She tried to move and realized that most of her body was wrapped in heavy bandages. "Where am I?" she wondered staring around the room she tried to remember what happened to her but it was all a blur. "Your

awake." said a soft deep man's voice. She turned her head and was shocked to see a very tall muscular green man with glowing orange eyes staring at her. "Uh hi who are you and where am I?" she asked him she was surprised at

how calm she felt. "My name is J'onn J'onzz, how are you feeling Ami?" he asked her looking concerned. "Very sore

but I think I'm ok." she replied, "You are at the Justice League watchtower.," he explained "I brought you here after

you were severely injured from an explosion that happened during a battle me and a colleague were engaged in."

Ami was stunned to learn that she was actually at the Watchtower and that she was actually talking to a superhero it was enough to make her head spin! "Wow how long have I been here?" she asked "5 days." he answered "Whoa

that long huh." she said J'onn noticed that she was beginning to fall back asleep. "Get some rest I will be back to

check on you soon." "Okay." She murmured closing her eyes and falling back into a deep sleep.
