Elrond watched his daughter as she laid on a bench on her balcony in Rivendell. He frowned slightly at the fact that she was laying in Aragorn's arms. He heard Arwen giggle and watched as she leaned up to softly kiss the ranger. Elrond felt a hand on his shoulder and turned around to face Gandalf.

"I am debating weather to burst in there and tear them apart or let them be" Elrond said softly

"Let them be old friend" Gandalf replied "The world will soon be is disarray and war will break out. Let them have peace for awhile"

"She wants to go on the quest. I fear she will go weather I send her or no"

"Arwen is strong but she will obey you. But her skill might prove useful. She is a skilled warrior"

"If she goes I can not keep her safe"

"But at least one man, a ranger no less, will die to keep her safe"

"You are absolutely no help to me old friend"

"Come. Let us leave them to their peace. We have a great deal of catching up to do"

Elrond smiled as they walked away. Meanwhile Arwen gazed up at Aragorn and smiled. Aragorn gently ran his fingers through her hair and kissed her forehead before gently holding her hand.

"I have requested to join the quest" Arwen said softly

"You must not go" Aragorn replied

"Do you believe I will be a burden? Or that I can not fight?"

"Never. But I would worry for you, and your father would worry for you"

"I can look after myself Estel. I do not need a mans protection"

"Arwen, it pains me to know I would be leaving you behind. But at least here or in the undying lands you would be safe"

"Let us talk no more about it. Tomorrow father will decide. Tonight is ours dear one, just ours"
