Stay
No, she can't leave. My wife can't leave.
I make my way to our flat, our home. It's the end of shift and she's not gone to the pub so hopefully she's at home.
It takes me about 20 minutes to get to mine and Zoe's flat. I see her car parked up, she's back.
I take the lift up three flights of stairs as fast as I can. I don't know if she's leaving now or in a while, I need to get to her.
I find our front door, number 114, and knock on it. I can hear the Neighbours theme tune, she's humming along to it.
A few seconds later, Zoe opens the door. "Max, what're you doing here?" she frowns.
"You can't leave, Mrs Walker."
"A, how do you know, and B, what are you doing here?" She enquires.
"Robyn overheard you talking to Mrs Beauchamp. Please Spiderman, don't leave. It's you, always has been and always will be."
"Oh Max." She smiles, stepping aside. "Come in."
I step inside and she turns the TV off. I sit down on the sofa, feeling quite awkward.
Zoe sits opposite me and clears her throat. "I'm only thinking of leaving, Mary Jane. I signed up for Internet dating this morning but it didn't sit right. None of the men I was matched with were half as attractive as you." She says.
I nod. "If you do leave, take me with you. A fresh start would be good for us both, as husband and wife."
"It would." She agrees, reaching across to take my hand. "I've missed you."
"You too." I respond, gazing at her. Her make up is smudged-from tears I realise,.Her hair is a little messy and she looks tired, but to me she's still the beautiful woman whom I fell for, well out of my league, but yet she chose me to be hers.
I squeeze her hand. "I love you, Zoe Hanna. I forgave you for what happened a long time ago- I guess after February I was discouraged. Not any more. I've always been in love with you, and I want to make us work, Zo."
"I love you too, and I'd love that." My wife beams.
I kiss her then, wrapping my arms around her waist, pulling her close.
"Don't ever doubt how much I love you, Zoe Walker. I need you, I crave your company. I'm totally and utterly in love with the you."
"I love you too, so much." She smiles, cuddling into me. "How about food, shower, and then bed?" My wife asks, a cheeky grin on her face.
"Yes dear." I chuckle.
The End
