Discliamer: everything belongs to Stephenie Meyer
Ever wondered how it would feel to have your whole world crash down before your eyes? To watch everything go up in flames while everyone else stood there oblivious? Leah Clearwater knew. The day Sam had told her about his imprint with Emily, she had felt her heart be wretched out of her chest and rip into small shattered fragments. She relived the moments when the thought of being a wolf, of being connected to him, replused her daily. It was etched in her memory, a broken record, broken like her.
So, she knew better than anyone else the pain Jacob Black at that precise moment, as the sleek black Mercedes pulled away from the drive. The love of his life had just chosen her 'precious' leech over him - the very same one that had callously dumped her a few short months before.
Even from a distance, Leah could see despondency seeping from Jacob, quenching the eternal flame of geniality that had always stayed ignited in him. Leah phased, instinct telling her she was the only one who could offer him some empathy.
She softly padded over to him and as she gazed into his tawny – coloured eyes, she observed a change in his once amiable eyes. It was as if a small part of him had just died. As Leah pondered this she realised she already knew what had vanished from his eyes. What had vanished from hers months before
– hope.
