Aichi and Kai were staring at each other.
Their fierce gazes were locked together, as if they were having a conversation with their eyes, both of their hues swirling with many emotions. Regret, passion, longing...
Gaillard couldn't help but gnash his teeth, his fist tightening and his nails digging painfully into his own palm. He felt a strange feeling shivering in him, similar to hatred, but somewhat... different.
He knew why he was feeling this way. Not because they were standing so close, or because his mates had defeated Kourin, who was currently being cradled in Aichi's arms.
It was because they were going to be together again.
He let out a vengeful snort, amber eyes quivering in their sockets. He wouldn't let Kai Toshiki take his precious Aichi-sama away again. Not after going through all this to protect him.
Not after he discovered his love for him.
Gaillard felt all his muscles tense in his body as Aichi's leg shifted, as he was about to walk towards the brunet, his lips slightly dropping open, as if he was about to mutter something.
Gaillard felt a bead of sweat roll down his face.
"Wait!"
Both Kai and Aichi turned to look at him, mildly surprised at his outburst. Gaillard felt ashamed for disturbing their moment, but continued nonetheless.
"Aichi sama, let me handle this!" He continued. "You should go back to sleep!"
The bluenet just stared at him as if he had grown a second head. Gaillard felt another droplet of sweat land on his fist, slithering in the cracks of his folded skin.
Aichi finally responded, his eyes closing as he gently bent down and placed Kourin against one of the broken pillars, getting back up to give Gaillard a nod.
"Very well, Gaillard." He said, and an annoyed snort left Kai's lips at how Aichi had addressed the knight.
Aichi walked back to the throne at an agonizingly slow pace, seeing how he could move so fast to catch Kourin yet walk back to the throne like an old man. But that wasn't Gaillard's main concern right now.
His main concern now was to take out the main competition.
Kai's face was twisted into an unhappy scowl.
"What's this?" He snapped.
"As a knight, I am to serve Aichi. And keep him away from lowly creatures such as you." Gaillard sneered, mockery clear in his voice. Kai let out a snort.
A strange glint caught in Kai's eye as he glared at Gaillard, the same, fiery heat emerging. But Gaillard just narrowed his eyes, unfazed. He remembered when he was battered by the dancing red flames he recieved as a punishment. Just recalling that made his burns tingle. The knight narrowed his eyes, amber hues glittering dangerously.
I will not lose to you again!
