A/N: So I heard this song called Oh Vegeta. There is two versions, one where Nappa sings it and the other King Vegeta sings it. If you look it up it is amazing but hits deep for both of them. This one-shot is based off of the King Vegeta version.
Disclaimer: I do not own Dragon Ball Z. Only FUNimation, Toei Animation, Akira Toriayama.
"Vegeta, come here my son," the king said.
"Father!" the little boy shouted, jumping into his father's arms. "Are we going out today?"
"No, it is time for your training as the Prince of Saiyans," the King said.
"I don't wanna," Vegeta complained.

King Vegeta watched as his son trained hard. Being under the power of a tyrannical Ice-jin was not the best. Nappa stuck by the Prince's side as he trained Raditz and Vegeta.
"Oh my son, I wish it were not this way," King Vegeta muttered.

"Nappa, take my son away from Planet Vegeta. Take two or three others with you. I fear my time is over. Frieza will kill us alll and I want my son safe," the king ordered.
"Of course King Vegeta," said Nappa, bowing to execute his orders.

Prince Vegeta felt cold on the inside. His father may not have been the best, but he still loved him. He didn't care so much for Tarble, but losing his father as well hurt. The planet had been hit and destroyed, leaving only a few Saiyans alive that hadn't been on the planet. Later that night, Vegeta stared up at the stars. Raditz and Nappa were asleep, but not the Prince.
"Father," he whispered.

"Vegeta, my son. I am sorry I had failed you. Frieza had killed me before the rest of our race. I only wished now I can be at your side, to be the father I never was to you. One day, when we see each other gain, I will be different."

Vegeta woke up, a forgotten ache returning to his heart. He still missed his father and wanted to see him again. His wife moved around in her sleep, but not waking. Vegeta got out of bed and to the balcony, looking up at the night sky.
'Is it possible that the Namekian dragon balls could bring back m father? Or at least let me talk with him, or bring him here for a week from Other World? I know Earth's dragon balls can't,' Vegeta thought. 'I'll talk to the green shrimp in the morning.'
"Vegeta? Is everything all right?" Bulma asked. She wrapped her arms around the Prince.
"Yes. I was just thinking about my father. I dreamed about him," said Vegeta. "You should go back to sleep. Kakabrat two is coming over to train with Trunks. You know how the boys are."
"Only if you come join me," said Bulma.
The two settled back in bed, Bulma's head on Vegeta's chest.

"Yes, it is possible for Porunga to grant your wish," said Dende. "Let me contact Grand Elder Moori and tell him."
Dende concentrated with his eyes closed, speaking to the Grand Elder of Namek. After almost half and hour, Dende opened his eyes again. Vegeta unfolded his arms, looking to the teenager impatiently.
"He should be here soon," said Dende.
A flash appeared near the two. Vegeta turned to see his father standing there, no halo above his head. It had worked. Vegeta didn't know what to say. He nodded to Dende, walking up to his father. King Vegeta looked at his son that he left orphaned. He had grown up with these many years.
"Father," Vegeta said.
"Hello my son," said King Vegeta.
Vegeta ran and hugged his father, refusing to let his tears be shed. His father was really there. King Vegeta hugged back. Dende left the two to get caught up with each other.
"Oh Vegeta, it is good to see you once more. I have been watching you and I am proud to call you my son. You have achieved the greatest you can and surpassed your limits and become the legend. Even though you betrayed our race, the royal line, brought disgrace upon the name Vegeta and wounded my pride, I am still very proud of you," said King Vegeta. "Remember, daddy has always been there and will always love you Vegeta. Now we can make up the years that were stolen. I have given up the throne to be who I was supposed to be. Now, where are my grandkids?"
"They are with Bulma, my wife. You will be proud of them. Trunks is getting stronger each day he trains and Bulla is my little princess," said Vegeta. "Even though they do not have traditional Saiyan names, they are still worthy of their royal blood."
"I bet they are," said King Vegeta.
Vegeta powered up and headed to Capsule Corps with his father behind him. When he landed, Trunks and Goten stopped their training. Bulla was outside watching from her spot on the blanket. The toddler babbled up at her father when she saw him and the new stranger.
"Oh hey dad," Trunks said. "Who's that? He looks like you."
"Trunks, this is your grandfather, King Vegeta of the Saiyan race," said Vegeta. "I had the Namekians revive him."
"You must be Trunks," said King Vegeta. "My you are a strong one child. And this must be Bulla."
King Vegeta bent down to look at the toddler closer. He brushed her tuft of hair with his fingers. Bulla giggled and grabbed onto the fingers. King Vegeta smiled and picked up the little girl. He turned to look to his son and grandson, eyes full of pride and love.
"They are worthy of the royal line my son," said the king.
"Thank you father. I'm just glad that you are here now," said Vegeta. "I have missed you. Each day of my life I have thought of you. The other Z Warriors will sense your ki and come to see you. Until they arrive, we should spend some time together as a family. Trunks, go get your mother. Goten, you can come join us."
King Vegeta followed to the tables with his family. Bulma was glad to meet the king at last. King Vegeta felt better with this second chance he had been given to do what he never did, even before his life was taken by Frieza. It felt good to not worry about ruling and just being there.
