A.N.: First The Pretender writings, even though I've watched the show for literaly years. It should not have been cancelled. Anyway, critque and enjoy.
There are some absolute truths in the world. The rain will always pour the day you need to carry arms full of important documents to your car. The day you look your worst is the day you run into your ex. Ms. Parker will refuse to give her first name to anyone. Sydney will always get seated first in a restaurant by a waitress. Jarod will always wear black.
There are many reasons for the aforementioned happenings. The rain will pour because people who are so busy they have to bring home work from the office never have the time to check the weather. And the second one? That's just plain bad timing. Ms. Parker simply won't give out her first name because it doesn't really match her perfect hair, nail, clothes, devil-may-care attitude. Well, she also told Jarod he would be the first to know what her name was when she felt like sharing. And Ms. Parker may be a lot of things, but a promise breaker isn't one of them. Sydney simply put, had a hot voice, and girls went for that. But Jarod dressing in black? It could be mourning for the life he never had. The memories he never got. Or it could psychological. Making himself different from others because no matter how much he could Pretend, he felt different from others. It could be that Jarod never had to do the laundry before and trial and error told him black was the easiest to wash. OR MAYBE it was the natural way black kept a person warmer. And after years of being stuck in The Centre, with the raised temperature, now that he was outside in the real world, with a changing temperature, it felt odd to him.
Those are all good reason, but the truth? It's because Jarod has no fashion sense.
Stuck in a basement for thirty years can do that to you.
