Lawrence Fletcher looked at his son in the rearview mirror as he drove to Linda's house. He hadn't told Ferb where they were going yet. He wasn't sure how to start.

Finally he started, "Ferb? You know I've been dating again right?" His son didn't respond but, that wasn't unusual, "Well I really like Linda and, she wants to meet you. She has two of her own children, Candace and Phineas. You understand that I still love you right?"

Lawrence was worried that Ferb was worried that he was being replaced. His son was always so quiet. Replacing Ferb was the last thing on Lawrence's mind. He just really liked Linda. When Ferb nodded Lawrence let out the breath he didn't know he had been holding. Ferb wasn't a liar.

Lawrence pulled up to the Flynn house and, parked the car. He looked to see that Ferb hadn't hesitated before getting out of the car. That was a good sign. Ferb did reach up to take his father's hand. Lawrence took it without thinking about it. He looked down to see the British flag firmly clutched in his son's other hand. They walked up to the door and, Ferb tugged on his hand. Lawrence understood the unspoken signal and, picked Ferb so he could ring the doorbell.

Linda answered the door, "Lawrence! And this must be Ferb. Phineas is so excited to see you."

Lawrence put Ferb down, "Hello Dear. How have you been."

Ferb tuned out the adult's small talk as his father lead him to the living room. He started to hold back and, his dad had to push her forward. Phineas was smiling at him but, Candace looked wary.

Phineas spoke first, "I'm Phineas and this is my sister Candace. It's nice to meet you Ferb. How are you?"

Ferb just nodded.

He was completely surprised when Phineas didn't press for an answer, "That's awesome. Why don't you come see my room?"

Both children looked to their parents for permission. When permission was received and the adventure was encouraged Ferb nodded to Phineas.

Phineas was still smiling, "Cool. It's this way. So what do you want to do today?"

Ferb followed Phineas to the red-head's room. It was incredible. There were all kinds of knickknacks. The best part was that even though Phineas never stopped talking he never seemed to need an answer beside a nod or a shake of a head. It was kind of nice. Ferb didn't think he would ever find someone besides his father that didn't mind him not talking.

He wasn't sure how much time had passed when he heard Candace yell, "Phineas! Ferb! Mom wants yes."

Ferb followed Phineas down to the living room and heard Mrs. Flynn tell Phineas, "It's time to tell Ferb good bye sweetie."

Phineas was still smiling, "Well good bye Ferb. I'll see you soon."

Ferb surprised himself when he said, "Thank you for having me."

Phineas took it all in stride, "Sure thing!"

Then Ferb let his father back to the car. Ferb looked for his flag but, couldn't find it. He must have left it in Phineas's room. Oh well. He got in the car and, buckled his seat belt. He would see the Flynns soon enough. He looked up to see his father's eyes on him.

Ferb spoke again, "If you asked her to marry you I wouldn't mind."

Lawrence smiled at his son, "You know I just might." Than he was quiet for a moment, "Thank you Ferb."

Ferb just shrugged. There was nothing more to say.
