Theirs was an odd relationship. It wasn't anything that anyone could have predicted, given their hate back when they were at school. Hermione told everyone that it happened at a bookstore, nothing special, nothing interesting. She remarked, later, that their first encounter after school had been an amicable one, where both of them reached for the same book, laughed, and then Draco offered it to her, with the promise that she would lend it to him at a later date. And possibly they could talk about it over dinner. Draco's rememberance of the event was slightly different. He swore to anyone and everyone who asked that while, yes, it was at a bookstore, and, yes, they had both reached for the same book, no, he hadn't offered it to her. Draco recalled that she had threatened to hex him if he didn't relinquish the book to her immediately. And, when the book was relinquished, she had walked off to buy it, leaving him to find her a few days later at work and demand she meet him for dinner to discuss the book. Their memories of their first date were, as usual, slightly different as well. He would say that they had agreed on all but one point in the book, which they discussed like old friends. He would say that they parted with a chaste kiss, and he promised to write her. She recalled that they disagreed on their opinions almost entirely, save on point, which was so tiny a point that their agreeance didn't even seem to matter. She recalled that the kiss had been a passionate one, after which she told him to not write because his opinion on the book was so atrocious, and he wrote her anyway. And, yet again, their recollections of his proposal were different as well. She recalled that he had blindfolded her, taken her to the bookstore where they first saw each other again, cut a hole in the book that they both wanted, and put a ring in it. She remembered saying yes immediately and crying because he was so romantic. She remembered the passionate love they made afterwards, and both of them admiring the simple diamond ring on her finger. Draco agreed on the method of proposal, but remembered that before saying yes, she blew up at him for damaging such a priceless book by cutting a hole in it. When he reminded her that he was a wizard and had magic and so was she and they could probably fix the book very easily, she huffed and walked away. He recalled shouting, "Is that a yes, then?" at her retreating back, and her turning around, smiling, and saying, "Sure, once you fix that book." His rememberance of the wedding was one where they stood on a beautiful alter decorated in silver and gold, their colors (because she thought red and green were too Christmas-y). He remembered watching her walk down the aisle, looking radiant as always. He remembered reading his own vows to her, and her reading hers to him. He remembered the perfect party, and the perfect first dance, and their absolutely perfect apparation to their honeymoon. She remembered walking down the aisle in a beautiful dress, and seeing his eyes fill with tears at the sight of her. She remembered reading her vows, and he reading his. She remembered a beautiful dance, a beautiful kiss. And if you asked their friends? They'd say that Draco and Hermione met amicably, argued about the book throughout dinner, her saying yes immediately, and a perfect wedding.
