Can't Let You Go
The blue velvet sky was brightly lit with small, glinting stars. The moon tonight was crescent and glowing, lingering high above the village of Konoha. The events that had taken place had not yet spread by word of mouth, but the sleeping villagers were restless, seemingly knowing what had happened only a few hours earlier.
Now, the raven-haired boy with the black curse-mark printed upon his porcelain skin made his way out of the sleeping village, having already dodged one of his now ex-comrades. Sakura, as the girl was called, now lay sleeping upon the bench nearest the only exit. He had used a simple sleeping jutsu upon the unsuspecting Sakura, giving him plenty of time to escape the village without anyone noticing he had left.
The bench, Sasuke realized, seemed to be printed on all of his memories that meant something good - being united with Sakura and Naruto, their first mission, and numerous other events. Scowling, he shook the memories from his mind. He wouldn't allow such simple things to hold him back from accomplishing his dream.
The night air was cool against his face, and as the path began to narrow, more trees seemed to creep up upon him. Soon, he would be another step closer to his goal in life - killing Itachi, his older brother. The one that had killed all of his family, leaving only two Uchiha's left - Itachi, and himself.
Orochimaru's goons had shown up earlier that night, promising him more power, as long as he cooperated with their master's plans. That part shouldn't be too difficult, the boy thought, a smirk upon his handsome face. Besides, he new what Oro had planned. All he really wanted was Sasuke's body, the boy knew, but he wouldn't allow that to happen. All he had to do was leave before such a thing occurred..
He continued to walk for nearly half an hour, before he realized he was being followed. With a scowl replacing his one blank features, he began to pick up his pace. There was no chance in Hell he would let who-ever it was catch up to him. And thus, things continued on like this for at least an hour.
Having finally lost track of time, Sasuke slowed, no longer feeling the presence that had been chasing him. As he faced the way he had come, he sighed. Turning, his eyes widened in suprise as his tracker stood in front of him.
Naruto. The annoying blond-haired boy who always happened to make things worse stood not even two yards away, blue-eyes narrowed. His rival, the other person he was always trying to best. Memories flashed through Sasuke's thoughts. The time they had tried to figure out what Kakashi-sensei really looked like. That had been fun, though he wouldn't admit to such a thing.
Then, the time when they had to catch that damned cat.. that had been fun, too.
"Sasuke-kun.." Naruto murmured, taking a step closer to his friend. With his thoughts pushed from his mind for the time being, Sasuke glared at him. "Dobe. You finally caught up, eh?" Sasuke smirked at him, before he walked forward, stepping around Naruto, "No matter what you do, I won't go back." With that said, a hand reached out, and grabbed Sasuke's wrist, before pulling him closer.
"And no matter what you do, I'll never leave you alone.." The blond-haired boy whispered into his ear, as he pulled him into a close embrace.
