While Ned and Emerson were off solving yet another case, Olive and Chuck were spending the evening back in the Pie Hole. They had been getting much closer as friends, and after a few hours in the empty Pie Hole, they started to have some fairly deep conversations. They discussed things that neither woman thought they would ever share with each other. Olive kept telling Chuck things she had previously decided to keep a secret from the world, and Chuck repeatedly said things without even thinking about them first. They both became so enthralled with the conversation that they began to lose themselves among the deep connection they could feel growing between them. To Chuck, nothing was more important than preventing an end to this moment with the woman, whom, for the first time, Chuck felt she might be able to call her best friend. For Olive, nothing existed in the world except the beautiful woman sitting a few feet away from her, whom she had never before believed she would accept into her own life.

"I've always wondered, what's your history? Like, with relationships," Chuck asked.

"Well, I've had a few… boyfriends in the past, but never anything too serious," Olive answered cautiously.

"Was it my imagination, or did you pause before the word 'boyfriends'?"

Olive sighed. She didn't plan on bringing this topic up, but she had already revealed more of her personality and inner thoughts to Chuck in the past few hours than she had planned; at this point, she figured she could trust Chuck with any secret she told her. "I've had a few relationships before, but they weren't all with men." She waited for the realization in Chuck's eyes before continuing. "I believe that love is love, no matter what gender. If I feel that special connection with someone, then I'm in love with the person, not their body."

Chuck nodded and said, "I can understand that. So, who have you felt that connection with, before Ned?"

Olive shook her head. "You wouldn't know any of them."

Chuck shrugged and said, "I want to hear your stories."

Olive couldn't help but smile. "It was my senior year of high school…"

As Olive recounted the stories of her first boyfriend, her first girlfriend, losing her virginity, and all her relationship failures after that, Chuck became absorbed in every story, and truly wanted each one to turn out happily. She even began picturing herself there with Olive in those scenes, trying to fix all of Olive's sadness each time her heart was broken.

"…Obviously, love hasn't worked out for me too well. And despite that, I still don't regret any choices I've made or anything I've done. But honestly, I'm hoping someone special comes along soon who can return the same feelings I have for them."

Maybe it was just the way the moonlight reflected off Olive's eyes, but for a moment, Chuck wished that maybe, one day, she could be that person Olive was searching for.
