The Fake in the Cape
by Tiffany Speegle
All you ever think about is that fake!
Who does he think he is, anyway?
He looks dumb in that cape!
He thinks he's the hottest thing since sliced bread
Because he can lift tractors up over his head!
He's virtually invulnerable with all of those powers,
But he sure brought down hell in that meteor shower! -
A little girl sobbing, her parents are dead,
A boy in a cornfield, no hair on his head.
So much death and destruction, and it's all his fault!
But he was the "miracle" one young couple sought.
So they hid him away, and he lied to his friends,
But he could never make those wrongs right again.
All of those powers, and he couldn't even save him!
He's not even human, that big, stupid alien!
You can throw him from a roof, and he won't break a bone,
But he'll die if you toss him one little green stone!
He flies through the air – It's a bird! It's a plane!
No, it's just that phony in blue tights again!
You idiot! Why do you even love him?
Why do you spend so much time thinking of him?
Because he's alone, and he's misunderstood,
And, although people hate him, he's kind and he's good.
And it doesn't matter if he fell from the sky,
For he is more human than you or than I.
And he was a gift from the stars up above
To shower us all with peace and with love,
Yet he is just like us, a man among men,
But this, above all, our protector and friend.
Superman.
