WARNING: Characters might appear a little OOC
The sun was shining, the birds were chirping and the leaves were rustling. Everything seemed perfect for this warm day in late spring. All of the people in Karakura Town must have been in great moods as they played in the beautiful weather. Well, everyone but the lovely Inoue Orihime.
"Ugh! I hate this so much!" shouted a frazzled girl as she looked over her work, or lack thereof.
Pulling at her silky auburn strands in frustration, Orihime felt like she was ten seconds away from throwing her laptop at the wall. The gorgeous woman was an aspiring romance novelist; however, for some unfathomable reason she simply couldn't write. Orihime had read every possible romance story and fanfiction she could get her small hands on. She also dedicated her spare time to watching anything romance but none of that seemed to make a difference.
Pulling her hands away from her coppery mane, Orihime pinched the bridge of her nose. Since she was a little girl she had always wanted to be an author. Romance was always her choice of genre, she loved the way some writers could make characters fall in love. Sometimes she would even put herself in their shoes. But in her case the words of sweet words of passion did not come so freely.
Orihime had been working on this novel for several months now and wasn't even a quarter of the way done. Her writer's block was driving her up the wall! How on earth was she going to pay for food or any other bills if she wasn't making any sort of an income?! Stressed beyond belief the auburn haired woman pushed herself away from her mahogany desk before she smashed her new laptop into tiny electronic bits.
Descending the marble staircase of her beloved home, Orihime crossed the living room and entered the kitchen. She stepped up to the refrigerator and yanked open the door to grab herself something cold to drink. Skimming the shelves quickly, Orihime noted that she would need to go shopping soon before she grasped a can of Dr. Pepper. Closing the ice box, the beautiful and curvy woman walked out to her deck to calm herself down.
Popping open the top, the tangerine headed woman took a well-deserved swig of the refreshing liquid. Sighing in satisfaction that her thirst had be quenched, Orihime looked out to the sea that her house sat above. She watched as the crystal blue water lapped at the edge of the beach pulling particles of sand that would settle at the bottom of the ocean.
The smell of beach filled her nostrils causing a nostalgic feeling to creep into her mind. Next thing she knew, Orihime had drifted off into the world of memories. The thoughts of her beloved brother, Sora, clouded her brain as she reminisced over the "good old days".
-FLASHBACK-
"Nii-san, chase me! I bet you'll never catch me!" a young girl chirped dashing down the steps of her home. Her shoulder-length orange tresses fluttering behind her like the flames of a fire.
"Orihime-chan, come back here!" Sora shouted after his younger sister who just made it to the lovely beach that they lived near. Her toes digging into the warm summer sand.
"Nu-uh! You have to catch me first!" the nine year old girl challenged shaking a pale finger at the young man. She stuck her pink tongue out at him for good measure before turning back around and sprinting farther into the beach.
"Very well. But, know this Orihime-chan, I willcatch you." The brunette man stated as he bolted after his stubborn but lively auburn haired sister. Orihime squealed in delight before continuing her run.
Due to Sora having much longer legs, the boy quickly caught up to the little girl. He scooped her up by the waist and threw her over his shoulder without much work. This earned the brown haired young man a surprised squeak from Orihime as she found herself quickly looking at her brother's behind.
"That is no fair Nii-san!" the tawny haired girl grumbled crossing her arms. Well, trying to cross them anyway. Her position made it a tad difficult, she was sure she didn't appear convincing.
Sora chuckled in response. "You told me all I had to do was catch you. That is what I did, how is that unfair?" he asked as he continued the walk up to their beautiful home.
"It just is," Orihime replied before resigning to her fate. She kept quiet the rest of the trek to her house. All the while still disappointed in herself for getting caught.
-END FLASHBACK-
The stormy eyes of the young woman began to sting with unshed tears. Blinking furiously, Orihime was trying and failing to keep from crying over the memory of her dear brother. The man was so strong when he was alive, but something as simple as a car wreck just broke him? He had saved her when she was only three years old.
Sora had just turned eighteen, when he made the quick decision to take Orihime away from their abusive parents. His choice is why she is here today. Their parents were always drunk, on drugs, or both, never bothering to feed or take care of her. Sora wanted a better life for her, so he ran away with her.
Saving enough money from his hard work, Sora was able to build the stunning home that was just for the two of them! He named it "Full House", which meant that the house was filled with love. That statement stayed true until seven years ago.
It was a rainy Saturday morning. Orihime and Sora had gotten into an argument the night before so she had pointedly ignored him all morning. Well, on his way to work, the brunette brother had taken a left turn a little too quickly and ended up running right into another vehicle going forty-five miles an hour. It was a head-on collision and both drivers lost their lives due the crash.
Orihime had been watching TV when she got the dreaded phone call. The police explained to the fifteen year old girl that her precious nii-san would not be returning to her that evening, or even again. The auburn haired girl blamed herself for months. If only she had said she loved him, or to "be safe" than he would still be here. It wasn't until her sixteenth birthday that someone pointed out that it was just an accident.
The wonderful person who brought light back into her dark life was her best friend in the whole world, Arisawa Tatsuki-chan. The tomboy was always cheerful and brought Orihime into a life of friendship. Through the woman, Orihime made several friends and relationships. Although, she will never ever forget about her brother and the sacrifices that he made to give her the life she now lives. His love is filled throughout the beams of "Full House" and that is precisely why she will never sell it under any circumstance.
The sound of her doorbell brought Orihime out of her "walk down memory lane". The loud ding almost caused her to nearly drop her beverage. Using reflexes that the gray-eyed woman didn't know she even had, she miraculously kept the can of Dr. Pepper from spilling all over her recently cleaned deck.
"Who on earth could that be?" Orihime mused quietly as she made her way into the house her coppery locks floating around her waist like a halo of orange.
Throwing open her front door her grey eyes landed upon her two best friends staring at her impatiently. Well, her best friend, Tatsuki-chan, and the woman's boyfriend Asano Kiego who was also a good friend of her's. The twenty-three year old man grinned at her brightly.
"Orihime! What took you so long?" Tatsuki inquired with a raised brow. The ebony haired woman pushed her way into the home earning a questioning look from the home owner.
Kiego quickly hugged Orihime before following his lover into Full House. The auburn haired author shut the white door and walked into the house. Stopping in front of the television that the two friends had already positioned themselves in front of, Orihime glared at the couple.
"What are you guy's doing here?" she asked pointedly meeting the brown eyes of both of them. The duo met eachother's eyes, a look that didn't go unnoticed by Orihime, before smirking.
"What? Is it wrong to want to visit a friend? We haven't seen you in like forever." Tatsuki mock gasped winking at the orange haired beauty.
Orihime laughed before setting her jaw and squinting her eyes at her friends. "No, seriously. What are you doing here?"
"Gosh, you are no fun." The raven haired tomboy sighed in defeat before handing Orihime a beige envelope.
Raising a carrot brow, Orihime pried open the envelope never taking her grey-purple eyes off the pair. Pulling out a ticket and a couple of brochures that said all showed pictures of wondrous landmarks that reside in the city of love.
"W-what is this?" the auburn haired beauty asked a beyond shocked expression present on her gentle facial features.
"It is an all expense payed vacation to Paris." Tatsuki explained to her puzzled best friend. Before Kiego piped in with, "courtesy of us, of course!"
"Why would you do this for me? It must have cost you a fortune!" Orihime remarked shocked. She quickly tried to remember if she had mentioned wanting to go on a vacation. She concluded that: although she occasionally said she was tired and wanted a break, she never expressed wanting to go on a trip.
"Well, we know how hard you have been working on your book. And, we also know that it hasn't been going well. So, what better inspiration than seeing love in real life in the most romantic city on the planet." The black haired woman clarified with a smile.
Orihime squealed in glee before running up to her friends. She practically threw the two of them to the ground with the force of her hug. Squeezing the lovers so hard they were left gasping for air she thanked them repeatedly.
"OH MY GOSH! THANK YOU SO MUCH! YOU GUYS ARE THE BEST FRIENDS A GIRL COULD HAVE!" she gushed loudly before bolting up the marble steps to her bedroom.
Slamming her door open, the tangerine headed girl started tossing clothes and toiletries into her leather suitcase. She wasn't even thinking straight, the only thought going on in Orihime's head was all of the exciting stuff she was going to while she was in Paris!
A/N: AHH! With this revised version, this chapter was almost doubled in length. That isn't very long but it is an improvement!
