Farewell Dearest

Tomorrow you leave, a new life you've chosen.
Had I been a woman stronger and wiser,
This life full of bliss would not have been broken.

Across the garden I see your shadow,
Your silhouette by the window and I wonder,
Do you see me by the moonlight?
Do you see the weakling you despise?

Your stomach must be sick at such a wanton display,
The woman once whole, now weak and decayed,
My days are numbered, so they say…
Such a poor excuse for a wife, did I make.

Your kiss I stopped, your attention I shunned,
I killed your dreams for a daughter and a son.
Those golden eyes so cold that night,
Is it the same till now? I shudder at the sight.

A curse indeed I am to you,
A reminder of a friend you once knew.
My fate I keep to partake alone.
Never mind what you think, my lips are mine alone.

"To tarry at night, when it's cold is unwise…"
I turn in surprise and see your wolven eyes.
Such life you will lead, I'll learn to despise,
The decision I made in such scalding cold ice.

"See me off tomorrow" You say and turn,
I watch your back, stone tight lipped in return,
"Give me at least that Yaso.", you muttered
Forgive me my husband, "Yes tomorrow." I stutter.

Farewell my dearest, farewell my only love.
May your new life suit you, may you be loved.

Disclaimer: Wolfie-kun is owned by Watsuki-sensei. Just a little angsty poem on Yaso's farewell to her husband Saitou as he goes off to marry Tokio. Yaso was said to have seen Saitou off. I worked with the theory that she was sick (with TB like Okita) and was going to die (a theory made common to reconcile Saitou leaving his first wife, as opposed to outside interference or Saitou abandoning Yaso for Tokio), I just used it for drama since I really don't think her sickness (if she was indeed sick) could drive RK Saitou away, well maybe the real guy, but not RK Saitou, thus I let Yaso make the choice instead of him. Shinoda Yaso is thought to have died in 1876 a full two years after Saitou married Tokio, but there is no proof that she indeed died that year, only that we have no news of her afterwards since the head of that household, Kurozawa left Tonami. There is a theory by Akama (Saitou researcher) that perhaps she became a mistress of Saitou involved in his work, of course that's just a –theory-… must kill plot bunnies First wife becomes the mistress, Fujita visits her, oh no love triangles! Argh! must –eliminate- plot bunnies …
