Why did she have to be so damn beautiful?

The question replayed over and over in Cartlton Lassiter's mind as he sat beside his best friend and partner, Juliet O'Hara. They had just gotten off a fifteen hour shift and before he could leave, she had asked him to go with her for drinks. Of course he couldn't say no; he truly enjoyed her company and it sounded a hell of a lot better than drinking alone as he normally did. So he agreed and now here they were, in the corner booth of her favorite bar and on their second round of drinks after a light dinner.

She was laughing at one of his stories and his heart ached because he envied the lucky bastard who would be the one to spend his entire life with this amazing woman.

And then she kissed him.

For a moment, his brain could not process what was happening. Soft, warm lips were on his, tasting of strawberry and salt. Then she emitted a soft moan and his mind could not think of a single reason why this was a bad idea.

Growling softly, he pulled her closer and deepened the kiss. Her slender fingers slid into his hair and he couldn't believe this was actually happening.

Finally they broke apart and he rested his forehead against hers. Her cheeks were flushed and her lips were swollen and so perfectly kissable. "O'Hara?"

"Juliet," she corrected with a smirk.

He smiled and smoothed her hair back. "Juliet. Should we be doing this?"

"Carlton, I swear to God…"

Chuckling, he leaned forward and kissed her again. "You're right."

"Yes, I am." She gently cradled his face in her hands. "This is right."

"I would be a fool to argue otherwise."

"And you are no fool, Carlton."

His lips curved in another smile as he leaned in to kiss her again.

You don't have to keep me falling like this

But it'd sure be cool if you did
