ASKING A FAVOR
AUTHOR'S NOTE/DISCLAIMER
I'm not really sure where this came from or even if it'll be expanded on, but I wanted to get this down. Takes place directly after the Pilot. Chicago P.D. belongs to Dick Wolf, NBC, and whoever else is affiliated with it.
Hank Voight blew out a breath as he walked into his office. It had been a long day and to be perfectly honest, he just wanted to go home and crash. But he couldn't do that. He had to fill out paperwork. That was the worst part of the job. Oh, well. The sooner he got it done, the sooner he could go home. He was about to turn on the light when a silhouette caught his eye.
"Who's here?" he demanded, tensing up as he reached for his gun.
"Easy, Hank. It's just me," a voice stated.
"Donnie?" he asked. "What the hell are you doing here?" he questioned, abandoning his gun and turning on the light, revealing a grinning Donald "Donnie" Callaghan.
"Sorry for the cloak and dagger. I need a favor," Donnie told him.
"Couldn't use the phone?" Hank questioned.
"Didn't wanna risk screwing up your deal," Donnie responded.
"I appreciate that," Hank responded.
"So you'll do it?" Donnie asked.
"That depends. What kind of favor?" Hank queried.
"I understand that there's a rookie in the department: a Kim Burgess," Donnie stated.
"What about her?" the officer asked protectively. The kid may not have been part of his unit, but he wasn't going to let anyone hurt her.
"I want you to look out for her. She's a good kid but she doesn't have a lot of people in her corner," came the response.
"What's your interest in her?" Voight wondered.
"Friend of the family. Me and my boys have been looking out for her a long time," Donnie answered. Voight looked at Donnie.
"Protected by you and your boys? She must be pretty special," he commented. Donnie had gone straight after the birth of his second son. Well, straight-ish, and even then, it wasn't a good idea to cross them. And even the two boys-Ryan and Michael-who taken respectable jobs-weren't people you wanted to get on the bad sides of.
"Kimmie needs people on her side. We've been that for her," Donnie stated.
"And now you want me to be on her side," Hank surmised.
"Just look after her. For me?" Donnie requested.
"Yeah, of course," Hank answered.
"Thanks," Donnie said and then he walked out, pausing only long enough to clap the other man on the shoulder. Voight blew out a breath. Well, it looked like he had someone else to look after…
