So this is my first story, and so I'm kind of nervous.

Out on the grounds of Hogwarts with several hundred people, most of them with bags of belongings to last them over the holiday break. Tearful voodbyes were exchanged, along with promises of letters and gifts.

Draco quickly stepped around the people, Crabbe and Goyle panting and struggling to keep up behind him while carrying heavy luggage. He sneered at an unsuspecting Hufflepuff girl, who shrieked and cowards behind her friend. Draco didn't stop walking until he spotted a mop of tangled raven hair a few feet in front of him. The owner of the messy hair was turned around, hugging his friends goodbye for the holidays.

"Oi! Potter!" the Slytherin called, smirking while he did so.

Said boy swiftly turned around, his emerald eyes narrowed and wand already in hand. Draco merely shook his head, as if the Savior's actions were completely preposterous. Harry raised an eyebrow, waiting for Malfoy to make the next move.

The entire hall was silent, everyone waiting with baited breath to see what the blonde would do. Instead of raising his own wand, or even spitting out an insult, Draco shoved his hand into his pocket and pulled out a white envelope, barely the size of his hand. He tossed it at Harry , who's Seeker instincts kicked in and caught it with ease.

"Merry Christmas," Draco said. He flashed a small smile before turning around and in the direction of the carriages.

Everbody, including the gift recipient himself, stood frozen, shocked at what just occurred. It took Snape's sarcastic drawl to break the trance, and soon everyone was abuzz with whispers and wonders.

Later that night, when Harry was alone in his room, he tore open the envelope, curiosity getting the better of him. When everyone who witnessed the event sent a letter, asking what was inside the paper, he wouldn't tell.

When the students returned from Christmas break, not a single person missed the friendly way Harry greeted Draco. However, no one, not even Ron or Hermione, noticed the simple piece of paper sitting on his bedside table.

I'm sorry. For everything.

Can you forgive me?

-Malfoy.

Personally, I prefer someone apologizing to my face.

This actually happened to one of my friends a few months back, when a boy she hated for picking on her for a few years came up to her and kind of just shoved it in her hand, and she instantly forgave the person after she read the letter. She said something about having a lot of courage and stuff like that. I thought it was sweet, and decided it was cute enough to write about.
