Just to let you guys know I'm alive, I'm posting this random drabble that I wrote a couple months ago! xD (In case I have any readers from other stories on here, I'm working on the new chapters. My excuse for not working harder is that I have lots of rehearsals for the play I'm in, but that's a stupid excuse because I don't have another rehearsal until Saturday!)

I thought this one up during English class while we were reading To Kill a Mockingbird, and if you haven't read that, you might not get this as much. (But who hasn't read it? Isn't it required reading in basically every school that exists? :P) Since I'd already finished the book, my mind began to wander, and, well... this is what it came up with.

Also, it's been a while since I last read The Titan's Curse, so please forgive me if some facts are wrong.

"Poseidon," Zeus rumbled, "Why did you choose to save it?" He motioned with the master bolt, which crackled with electricity, to the Ophiotaurus, which was floating in its water sphere and mooing happily.

"It is a creature of the sea," Poseidon replied evenly. "The sea is my domain, and I felt responsible for its safety."

Zeus examined his brother closely, sensing that he was not telling the complete truth. "Is that all? Is it, really?" When Poseidon did not reply, he added, "Tell me the truth."

Poseidon sighed and turned his gaze towards the Ophiotaurus, mumbling in a low voice, "As my son said, it is innocent. It is dangerous; I will not be one to deny that, but it would not have felt right to kill it. Had it been taken captive by the Titans, it would still not be working against us of its own accord or with any trace of malevolence. It is a purely innocent being." As he continued to observe the sea creature, it mooed again, looking strangely content.

"That happens to be why I - barely, of course - allowed those demigods to live," Zeus admitted grudgingly. "They did no wrong... yet. As Artemis said, to kill them would be injustice."

There was a long moment of silence broken only by the occasional moo, then Poseidon remarked, "This rather reminds me of a book written by a mortal some years ago. To... to kill a... to kill a... something. I don't quite recall."

Zeus snorted. "You read mortals' books?"

Poseidon flushed. "I watched the movie, actually."

"As if that is much better."

"It was mildly entertaining."

"I'm sure," Zeus said wryly. "You must really have nothing of any importance whatsoever to do down there at the bottom of the ocean. Maybe I should have given you the responsibility of the Ophiotaurus after all."

Is the copy-and-paste function of your Doc Manager really messed up? Because mine is. I was going to use it to post this, because I didn't want to upload the document (it was on a document with about five other random unpublished one-shots of mine) but I couldn't bold or underline or italicize anything... I found a loophole, though; I uploaded the entire document, went to edit it, and deleted everything except this xD GO ME
