Author's Note: I've always liked Seto Kaiba's character so I've decided to write something about him and Mokuba. I love how much Seto's interactions with Mokuba reveal about them! This is just a short a piece, but I hope you enjoy it just the same.

Sincerely,

Summary: Seto is stuck on his latest project and Mokuba knows how to help. Apparently Seto isn't the only Kaiba brother with talent.

Two Kaibas are better than one

"Mokuba" Seto looked up to his little brother standing beside his desk. He pushed back his irritation. He had a deadline to complete if he wanted to begin testing his duel disk update, and Mokuba knew not to bother him unless it was important.

"Big brother, could you do me a huge favor?" Mokuba begged.

"What is it Mokuba?" Mokuba had just come to ask him favor? What could be so important that it couldn't wait?

"Shut down your laptop and go eat something, and then maybe take a nap. You've been up for three days straight and that can't be good for you!"

He didn't need his kid brother to show him how to take care of himself! Who needed sleep when he had glitches to iron out and programs to write and design flaw so fix "I'm fine Mokuba. Is that all? I need to get back to work."

"Can you at least eat something? Please Seto? You haven't eaten anything since lunch yesterday."

"Fine, have someone bring me up a sandwich or something." He said distractedly.

Mokuba held up a boxed lunch."I've already brought you something. I had a feeling that you would forget to eat again so I got you a bento box while I was out running errands. You can eat it while you work!"

Although Seto would never admit to it unless it was heavily veiled with sarcasm, he was grateful for the lunch. Mokuba's thoughtfulness gave him a warm feeling that he did not care to admit to. "Thanks. Now, if you're done bothering me, I need you to run these numbers for me."

"You've got it!" Mokuba hastily turned around and made his way down to his own office. Mokuba was the Vice President so he had an official office, but he rarely used it. He did not handle the paperwork or hold meetings-Mokuba was still a kid, after all, even if he was a particularly responsible one. The only times he actually bothered to work in his office were times when Seto needed to work alone.

Seto set back to work. "This design is too heavy-it weighs almost as much as my second generation duel disk. They were ahead of their time, but there is no excuse for lagging behind now that they're recognized world wide". He needed something sleeker and more compact that brought up higher resolution images with sound and motion and a better safety feature. The ones that he had used until then still had a strong backlash. That might be good for experienced duelist, but he'd appeal to a wider market if he took it out or muted the effect. None of his designs seemed to working the way they usually did.

Meanwhile Mokuba finished running the number without a problem and decided to work on a different project. He knew that his brother had been struggling with the new duel disk design, and had wondered if he had missed an obvious solution because he was working himself too hard. Although he wasn't a child prodigy he did know a thing or two about programming and design because he had spent a good portion of his childhood being raised by a master at both.

He realized that he Seto had missed some really obvious things because he was too exhausted. Mokuba did the only thing he could think of. He did exactly what he did with that book when he was a kid and hollowed out a place to put his corrections in it. He took a deep breath and made his way to his brother's office. He doubted if he go thrrough with it-why had he thought that he could notice something that Seto missed? Nobody was better than his brother at that!

He still had to try, he thought with renewed determination. His brother needed him. He hesitantly knocked on the door.

"I thought I told you that I am not to be disturbed," said a growl from the other side of the door.

"You'll really want to see this." Mokuba shouted.

"Mokuba?" he sighed, "Fine, you can come in."

"I ran those numbers for you. Also, I wanted you to have this. I thought it might cheer you up" He waved the book around.

For once Seto looked puzzled, but he accepted it gracefully. "Thanks. Was there something else?"

"Nope. If you need me I'll be working on my homework."

After Mokuba left Seto leaned back in his chair and held up the book. Why had his brother given him a book about chess strategies? He had surpassed the level of this particular book a long time ago, which is why he gave it to Mokuba when he said that he wanted to get better at it.

When he picked it up he realized that it felt off somehow. Such a thick book should weigh more. He opened it up and flicked through the pages and found that it had been hollowed out and some papers had been folded up and placed in the center. He cracked a small smile when he remembered the last time that trick had been used. He must have been trying to tell him that he was overworking himself.

The papers he found were more than just letters-they were Mokuba's notes and improvements on the design. Mokuba rarely submitted this kind of work so he looked at it curiously. He doubted that he'd ever be able to actually use his designs, but that these efforts were something to encourage in a kid so he read them. They were brilliant! When had his little brother gained such and understanding of this area? They were exactly what he had been looking for!

That night Seto took time off for dinner. Both of them sat down and had served themselves before they spoke. "I saw what you hid in the book." When Seto looked up from the cup of coffee in his hand he realized that Mokuba couldn't bring himself to look him in the eye-his tell that he was nervous, no matter how cool he pretended to be.

"Yeah?"

Seto tried to smile in an encouraging way. "I must say, I was impressed little brother. I never realized that you had that kind of talent."

"You're not annoyed?"He said doubtfully.

Seto laughed "The only person I'm annoyed at is myself for missing something so obvious. I'm proud of you." He really was- he reserved that sort of praise for when it was well deserved. After all, the last thing he wanted was for Mokuba to turn into just another spoiled rich kid with an overinflated ego. What Mokuba had done should have been obvious to someone with experience, but to someone as inexperienced as Mokuba his work was nothing to sneeze at.

Mokuba's face lit up like a lamp. "Do you really mean it?"

"Hmph. Don't get too excited. Now that I know how much you know I'm going to be expecting more out of you."

Mokuba got a little too excited and leaned over and set his elbow in his salad plate. "I promise I won't let you down!"

Seto resisted the urge to laugh. When was the last time Mokuba had been this excited about anything that he had done? "You had better not."

Author's Note:

My view on the way Seto treats Mokuba comes from the way he himself was treated as a child. He was given more responsibilities than the average child, so he expects Mokuba to be able to handle more too. The main difference is that he also recognizes the fact that Mokuba is still a kid (even though he himself is still young) and would never expect what Gozaboro expected from him. So while Mokuba is often given more responsibilities, he is still allowed to be kid at times too and would never be expected to work under the type of intense schedule that Seto sets for himself. I also imagine that Mokuba looks up to his big brother and often spends his time in Seto's office while he studies or does his own work. I hope that I was able to express this in my writing.

Thank you all for reading and reviewing!

Sincerely,

ForeverLily
