"Reno...I'm going to die... and it's all your fault!" Yuffie yelled, glaring at the back of her boyfriend's crimson head.
"Princess, you're not going to die," Reno said calmly. Yuffie managed to stand up and walked/teetered over to his side.
"I have a serious condition," the ninja said, puffing out her cheeks in anger.
"No what you have is a fear and this little trip is going to help you get over it." He was referring, of course, to the helicopter they were now in. Yuffie didn't know why she even agreed to do this but Reno had her wrapped around his little finger, all it took to get her to get in this infernal thing was a smirk and a kiss. Shaking her head at this memory of weakness, Yuffie stared up at the cockpit ceiling and tried to count the number of marks. Unfortunately her face started to turn green a few moments later when Reno piloted them further up into the clouds.
Reno glanced over at Yuffie from the corner of his eye and took in her green face. His ears picked up her rapid breathing as well.
"Yuffie, you wanna take the stick?"
"Reno we can't do that up here, we'd crash!" Reno rolled his eyes at that.
"I mean the control stick." Yuffie's eyes widened a little.
"I don't know...what if I got us killed?"
"You won't, there's nothing on the radar and we're almost above the clouds." Yuffie thought for a few moments before nodding. Soon she plopped into Reno's lap before he could move out of the pilot's seat.
"I would have moved for you," he said. Yuffie smirked and shook her head.
"It's better this way." Reno took her hand then and led it to the black yoke. After making sure she had a firm grip, he moved his hand back.
"What do I do now?" Yuffie asked.
"Just gently ease it upward." As Yuffie did as he directed, elation and fear filled her. But soon enough elation won and she applied more pressure. The wispy white air soon vanished and the world was filled with blue. As far as the eye could see the color stretched, basking in the noonday sun.
"It's beautiful..." Reno's arms wrapped around her middle then and she felt the weight of his head on her shoulder.
"Yeah it is...but I need you to do one more thing for me, okay?" Reno whispered into her ear.
"Flying this horrible thing wasn't enough? What's next, juggling chainsaws?"
"Just go back to your seat and close your eyes. I'll let you know when you can open them."
"Don't try any funny business Turkey," Yuffie warned, moving back to her seat. Reno turned on the auto pilot just as Yuffie closed her eyes.
She waited for him to kiss her but his lips never met hers. Her stomach was starting to get queasy again and she really wished Reno would hurry up.
"Alright you can open them..."
Reno was on his knees in front of her, an open box in his hands. The sapphire ring that the box had been guarding was on full display and gleaming in the sun.
"Before you say anything, know that I'll still love you whether you say yes or not. You're so beautiful and although you have your flaws there's no one I'd rather spend the rest of my life with than you. So will you marry me Yuffie Kisaragi?" Reno was soon embraced in a tight hug and showered with kisses. Amid her amorous ministrations he could make out her acceptance and he smiled widely. He returned the kiss along with the hug and lifted her up. Twirling her around, he set her back down and placed the ring on her finger.
"Did this help you get over your fear?" he asked. Yuffie started to respond but then her body suddenly remembered that it had been in a moving vehicle. Reno tried to find cover from the coming storm but it was too late...
After landing the helicopter and handing the keys to a pissed off Reeve, Reno and Yuffie returned to their shared apartment where a warm shower awaited the both of them. Well that and a new life together of course.
