That's How We Like It
Jade's POV
I knew I would be like, so I started sprinting down the dirt road. It was hot, but the breeze felt nice on my showing skin. I could smell the smoke, and I knew I was almost there. It would be just us. All of us.
Andre was tapping on some bongos, Beck playing his acoustic guitar. I ra over, but before I could stop, I was attacked by Cat's hugging.
"Oh my gosh! Hi!" she yelled.
"Hey Cat," I said.
"I love your bikini! Let's go swimming!"
Beck came up behind me and kissed my cheek, before I could go off with Cat. I turned around and caught his lips.
Vega ran out of the water, dripping on the short area of sand. We said our hellos and went in. The water was super cold, but it felt nice.
Robbie was trying to grill some hot dogs. I'm not sure how well he was doing, but it smelled great.
It wasn't long before we started eating, sitting at a red picnic table. We were lucky that no one else was there. It was our end-of-the-year tradition.
Cat started talking about her brother and how she was missing some ear-rings. Tori was sharing how she wanted to go to Julliard. Robbie had his puppet, of course, but kept in his bag.
When the sun started to set, we built a bonfire. Some had brought s'mores stuff, so if you haven't guess yet, we made s'mores.
"I wish summer would last forever," said Cat.
"What about winter? I like winter," Robbie said.
"I know, but if summer was longer, we could do this more."
Tori and I had managed to play nice the whole time, not being sarcastic or having any petty fights over nothing. All of this seemed, really in place. Like this is the way everything should be.
Once the moon shot up, the temperature dropped drastically. Beck handed me his Hollywood Arts sweatshirt, which smelled just like him.
Cat and Robbie had walked out to the lake again, and walked around the perimeter, splashing their feet around.
"I'm gonna miss this," Tori announced as we started packing everything.
"Miss what?" I asked.
"This. Or group, hanging out, everything!"
"It's not like we'll never see each other again," Beck said.
"There are still two more years of school, then more of this," Andre added.
"I know, but still."
I rolled my eyes, but didn't let her see.
"Look at this pretty shell!" Cat cried when she and Robbie came back up to us. They're so cute together. If only he had the balls to ask her out.
We put the cooler in the bed of Andre's truck and got ready to leave.
Cat had to hug everyone, not that we complained at her sweetness.
Tori and Cat piled in the back of Andre's truck as him and Robbie got up front. Beck and I watched them drive away before getting in his car. As he drove me home I started thinking.
We all went to a school where everyone expressed themselves via lockers. We all started out nervous, but after time we became fearless. Lastly, we all started out as friends, but ended as friends for life.
Yeah, we may not be perfect. We may not have tons of money. None of us might not get our dream jobs. And none of us are number one. We are beginners. But we that's how we like it.
