Just a little story that came to me one day. Cassie belongs to guestsurprise, who gave me permission to use her and all other characters belong to their respective owners.

Daddy Will Always Protect You

Cassie gasped awake as she sat up and glanced around. Seeing her familiar room, she began to calm down a bit more as she pulled her knees up under her chin and sat there. She had had a bad dream, a terrible memory from her past and it shook her up terrible. Making up her mind, she got up and went into the hallway, moving carefully as she heard the various light snores from her uncles who were all sound asleep. Stopping outside Four Arms' room, she went in and was surprised she didn't see him but then heard him in the bathroom and quickly got under the covers so that he wouldn't see her right away.

Four Arms came out and moved to his bed, getting under the covers and was thinking about reading for a bit when one of his hands landed on a lump beside him. Looking at the spot, he then lifted the covers to see Cassie hiding there. "Cassie?" he said. "You okay, sweetheart?"

She crawled up and hugged him and his second set of arms hugged her back as he rubbed her back with one of his free hands and his other free hand gently stroked her head. "Did you have a bad dream, kiddo?" he asked.

She nodded. "Yeah," she said. "Actually, it was a bad memory."

He didn't need to ask to know what she meant. "Shh, you're not there anymore," he said to her. "You're in a better home now."

"I know," she said, but didn't move and he knew why. She was still scared, so he began rocking her and holding her protectively.

"Shh, I've got you, kiddo," he said.

"Daddy?" she asked.

"Yes, kiddo?"

"I wish I didn't have to remember those times," she admitted.

He was quiet for a minute. "I know, baby girl, but those memories have made you into what you are today," he said gently.

"What do you mean?" she asked.

"Each bad memory has helped you to become a stronger person in a way," he explained. "You don't see it now, but you'll notice how you'll handle some things when you get older."

"Is that a good thing?" Cassie asked.

"Yes, baby girl," said Four Arms. "Because what doesn't bring you down helps you to build yourself up to be a strong person, just like your mom."

Cassie smiled at that. "Yeah, I guess it will," she said. "But, why do those memories come out when I don't want them too?"

Four Arms chuckled. "That's a mystery of the brain, Cassie," he said. "Not even your uncle Frankenstrike knows that one because the brain is just a mystery that can't be solved a lot of the time. But there's one thing you can always count on."

"What?" she asked.

"That you'll always have a loving family here and I'll always protect you," he said. "Because I love you very much and nothing, not even the fact that you're adopted, will change that."

Cassie smiled, knowing her father would never lie to her and she hugged him again. "I love you, Daddy," she said.

"I love you too, kiddo," he said as all four of his arms hugged her protectively and affectionately.

Cassie then yawned and rested her head on her father's shoulder and fell asleep. Chuckling before he also yawned, he lay down and turned off the light, hugging his daughter protectively to help keep her nightmares away.

Because he would always protect her, no matter what.

It's true. What doesn't kill you makes you stronger and your past has helped you become stronger in the present.
