Loving can hurt,
Loving can hurt sometimes,
But it's the only thing that I know
I dig out the old shoebox from under my bed, longing for a connection. Memories of her, anything I can hold onto now. Anything of her. I hold an faded old photograph of Tris in my hands, holding it gently but never wanting to let go either.
When it gets hard,
You know it can get hard sometimes,
It is the only thing that makes us feel alive
I remember when we first met, how she giggled and held my hand as I reached out to her at the net. It was the first time in years I felt woken up, alive.
We keep this love in a photograph
We made these memories for ourselves
Where our eyes are never closing
Hearts are never broken
Times forever frozen still
I remember us taking our first photos together in an old, rarely used photo booth in Dauntless. I slide the photo strip between my fingers as I remember the laughs we had and warm smiles with each other, the silly faces we made too.
So you can keep me,
Inside the pocket,
Of your ripped jeans,
Holdin' me closer,
'Til our eyes meet
Out first kiss near the chasm when I felt our eyes meet and lips find each other, our special place in Dauntless.
You won't ever be alone,
Wait for me to come home
Loving can heal,
Loving can mend your soul,
And it's the only thing that I know (know)
Loving Tris was one of the best parts of my life, healing some of the pain from my childhood. Making me feel whole.
I swear it will get easier,
Remember that with every piece of ya,
And it's the only thing we take with us when we die,
These pieces of Tris, reminders of her life are great but they don't show what an amazing, beautiful person that she was.
We keep this love in this photograph
We made these memories for ourselves
Where our eyes are never closing
Hearts were never broken
Times forever frozen still
These photographs allow me to remember and relive my life with Tris, never wanting them to go away.
So you can keep me
Inside the pocket
Of your ripped jeans
Holdin' me closer
'Til our eyes meet
You won't ever be alone
And if you hurt me,
That's OK, baby, only words bleed,
Inside these pages you just hold me,
And I won't ever let you go,
I won't ever forget her, I won't ever let her go.
Wait for me to come home,
Wait for me to come home,
Wait for me to come home,
Wait for me to come home
Wait for me, Tris. Wait for me wherever, I'm waiting for you.
Oh you can fit me,
Inside the necklace you got when you were 16,
Next to your heartbeat,
Where I should be,
Keep it deep within your soul,
Keeping her close, always keeping her close to me.
And if you hurt me,
Well, that's OK, baby, only words bleed,
Inside these pages you just hold me,
And I won't ever let you go
I'll always love you, Tris.
When I'm away,
I will remember how you kissed me,
Under the lamppost,
Back on 6th street,
Hearing you whisper through the phone,
"Wait for me to come home."
