{Takes places just after "Legend"}
I opened my eyes and my vision was blurry. I groaned as I felt intense pain shoot through my body. I tried looking around to see my surroundings, but I didn't recognize anything in the white room. I attempted to sit up and shouted in agonizing pain. I felt someone gently touch my shoulder to make sure I stayed in the unfamiliar, yet comfortable, bed. The voice sounded a bit muffled, but I finally paid close attention and recognized who it was.
"Kensi…" I whispered attempting to look at her as my vision began to fix itself.
She stood over me and gently brushed her hand across the top of my head. "..Callen, you have to relax. You're in the hospital."
I blinked repeatedly and looked at her with confusion after hearing what she just said. "What?"
"Callen, you got shot. Remember? By your apartment." she said as she sat down in the chair next to my bed.
It all came back to me. After Sam dropped me off, I walked down the street a bit and saw that Russian girl that just moved in. Out of no where, I heard shots and felt myself getting hit. Next thing I knew I was on the floor gasping for air and Sam was holding me as he called for help.
"Y-Yeah, I remember now." I told her with my voice sounding hoarse.
I felt her grab my hand and held it tightly as she looked into my eyes. I tried grabbing hers back as much as I could, but I was drained. "You know…when I got the call…I was really scared. I didn't think I'd see you again." she said with a slight smirk and shook her head to cover up how upset she was. She couldn't even make eye contact. I knew what she was feeling. She could hide her feelings when it comes to other people, but me? I can see right through her.
"Kens…" I told her in attempt to pull her on her hand. "Come here.."
She stood up and sat next to me on the bed. She looked down at me with a slight smile on her face as I slightly grinned back at her. We looked into each others eyes for a second before she leaned forward and placed a soft kiss on my lips. I slowly lifted my hand and placed it on the middle of her back as I returned the kiss. It felt like forever since I've kissed her and I've missed it.
Kensi pulled away gradually and smiled while placing her hand on my face. "…I…lov-"
I woke up to pain in my arm due to one of the nurses trying to find a vein to draw blood. "I'm sorry to wake you, Sir. I thought it'd be simple to find a vein and not wake you." the young nurse apologized as she finally found a vein and drew blood.
I gently nodded toward her to let her know that it was alright then I heard Sam walking in as she walked out. "Well well well, look whose up." he said as he walked over and sat by my bed side with a coffee in hand.
"Hey Sam. How's everyone doing?" I asked with a raspy voice.
He took a sip of his coffee and smirked. "Mace said she's coming by later. She's good. Nate has been acting like a worried mother. Eric got you a get well gift, but it's in the car."
I raised an eyebrow. "Do I even want to know?"
"Not really." he laughed then sipped on his coffee again.
"How's Kens?"
He let out a sigh. "Kensi's alright. She took what happened really hard, she was worried, but she's better now."
"Well it's good she's alright now."
"Yeah…" Sam paused. "So. Any more weird dreams? Dreams of you getting shot again? Dreams of past assignments?"
I stayed silent for a minute then I let out a soft sigh. "No. not this time. I actually slept pretty well for once since I've been here."
Sorry guys, my muse stopped here. Thanks for reading.
