A/N: This idea kind of sparked in my head last night so if it seems rushed or just plain ol' crappy, that's probably because it is, lol.

"Come on Elle! You're tough aren't you? Now prove it. Make me proud!" daddy said over and over, asking me…no, telling me…ordering me.

I kept my hands on the electrical box just like he told me. I could feel it inside, feel it burning, all the way from my nose to my toes. It was that same feeling I always got when daddy tested me. But this time it was too much. Blue lights all around me and it hurt, hurt a lot. Too much, too much, too much!

"More Elle! Make your father proud. Show Mr. Linderman here what my little girl can do." I could barely hear daddy's voice now and I felt dizzy, like the way you feel after you spin around in circles a zillion times. And my tummy felt sick, sick like when daddy brought me back candies from some far away place and I ate them all in one night.

You have to do as you're told, a voice inside me rang. Do as you're told or else you'll get punished. You'll have to stay in that stupid glass room, no one to talk to. All alone, like a little doll on display, everyone staring at you, always watching. No, not again. No, no, no, no!

So I did as I was told and I pushed harder. Now I could really feel it. The sparks were moving faster now, faster and faster, quicker than that funny cartoon bird that always outruns the dumb coyote.

And now my head felt weird, light, like a feather. It felt like a feather must feel on the wind, just like that. Then came a flash of light. White light, as bright as snow…not that I'd ever seen snow but daddy promised me I would one day, as long as I was a good girl.

Then my eyes were closing and I was really, really dizzy. And something must have been making me sleepy too because I was so tired. Before I knew it I was falling backwards, falling fast and slow at the same time.

Suddenly, a pair of worried eyes was looking down at me through funny looking glasses. They were kind eyes, I'd seen them before. And I knew right then that they weren't daddy's…they never were.
