Full Summary:

Delia slipped & fell into the freezing flooded river. She tried to keep her head above water as her friends ran for help. Someone saw her fall in and jumped in themselves. Now Delia & the mysterious girl are being swept away fast. Can this mysterious girl get Delia to land before they hit the waterfall? And will help come too late?

Don't Fall In:

"Hey Delia, you wanna come down and spy on the new hermit that just moved in by the river?" Jon, a friend from school asked.

"Sure wait up, let me get my coat." Delia ran back inside to get her coat and tell her dad they were going down to the river to throw rocks into the water. He told her to be home by eight.

They all ran down to the river and started looking for the new hermit but couldn't find one. I stepped out of the shadows.

"Can I help you kids?"

AAhhhhhh!

"There is no need to be afraid. I'm not going to hurt you."

"You look like Michelle Rodriguez."
"I get that a lot. You kids shouldn't be here. The river is flooded. Get back home or you might fall in. Now go and I won't have to alert the authorities that you were down here."
"Who are you?"

"My name is Chyia. Chyia Patterson. Why do you want to know?"

"Are you the new hermit that moved in here?"

"I'm not a hermit. And I don't live here. I'm a Detective. And if you don't get home, I'll drag you there myself."

"So is that why you're carrying a gun?"

"Yes, that's the reason. Now go. And remember, don't fall in."

They ran off and I went back to looking for the body I'd been sent to look for. The kids were ten minutes away when I heard on of them scream and then heard a splash. I was by the river within a couple seconds. I saw the girl with long brown hair flailing in the water, being swept downriver. There was a waterfall around here somewhere and her friends wouldn't get help in time. I ran at them and unbuckled my belt in the process. I pulled my holster and gun off and threw it at the kids. One of them caught it and then my badge. Right before I dove into the freezing water I told them to go get help. They were gone by the time I came back up. They had taken my gear with them.

I swam for the girl and dove under the water where I had seen her go under. I swam under water and felt with my hand until I came in contact with her wrist. I grabbed her wrist and pulled her up. She was unconscious, but breathing and alive. The cold water was already getting to her. I pulled with all my might and moved toward the bank until we were swept farther into the river by the current.

Someone yelled my name…………….
