A\N: Hey everybody! It's been a super long time and I can't be sorry enough! I was sitting in bed when I realized I forgot about my promise to finish this, so here I am, putting it all together in the middle of the night

I'm not certain about how often this will be updating because my schedule is a bit busy. I estimate about once a month (that sounds bad, but I promise you I'll be trying to put lots of effort into this).

I hope you enjoy. Send me a PM is there's something you want to see in this and I'll see what I can do.

This was it.

This was his last chance.

Everything Link had worked so hard to accomplish wouldn't matter if he didn't make it through this. The blood, sweat and tears he fought through for months and months, the grueling puzzles, the near-death experiences . . . They didn't mean shit if he died now, if he turned back, or if he decided it was suddenly too much.

Link felt nauseous. His stomach churned as he weighed the intensity of the situation, feeling the same anxiety he experienced when he first lost Zelda.

He had to do this. He couldn't lose her again. No—if he gave up now, he'd lose more than just Zelda. He'd lose everything. His friends, his instructors, his entire world . . . He'd lose it all to the darkness he'd been battling since the day he won the Wing Ceremony.

Forcing his anxiousness to the back of his mind, Link stepped toward the menacing portal that lie in the center of the Sealed Grounds' pit. It emitted a mighty glow of both purple and black, the center as eery and empty as a black hole. It might as well have been one; Link felt like stepping into it would crush him rather than simply transport him.

His hands unconsciously shaking, Link clenched his fists and reminded himself that he was the embodiment of courage. He was chosen to fulfill this path, and he was born to be brave enough to face this very moment.

"Master Link, I have important information for you," a familiar, metallic voice informed, snapping Link out of his train of thought. "Once you enter this portal, my analysis indicates a zero percent chance you will be able to return, unless you are able to vanquish your foe. Are you ready to proceed?"

Not yet. . . . Link wanted to say. He really did.

But he nodded instead.

"Understood, Master Link. Know that even in the place that lies beyond this portal, I will be with you. . . .

"And, Master . . . good luck."

Link stared at Fi, his bright blue eyes filled to the brim with uncertainty. But . . . Fi always believed in him. No matter how robotic or emotionless she really was, she was there. In a weird way, she understood. She was the one who told him it was okay to be afraid before he entered Skyview Temple.

It was okay to be afraid.

Taking a deep breath, Link felt a surge of determination explode inside of him as he stepped into the portal and vanished into the new world that waited for him on the other side.

Cold swept over him like walking outside on a winter morning. The water beneath his feet soaked into his boots, drenching his socks and dampening the skin inside. Goosebumps crawled onto his arms, sending chills up his spine as making him even more on edge.

Link saw his breath when he exhaled.

"Ah . . . so it seems you've decided to meet your end in battle overall. It pleases me greatly to see such misplaced valor, human."

Demise was a massive creature, surely fitting the title of The Demon King. His arms, lower torso and feet were racked with black scales, red tints emitting from the edges, as his hair swelled with a never-ending flame. Link wondering if it was as hot to the touch as it looked.

The demon's eyes glared down into the small hero's, ruby meeting sapphire. Determined to not appear fazed by Demise's intimidating appearance, Link narrowed his eyes in defiance and slid the Master Sword out of its sheath.

Amusement playing at the corners of his mouth, Demise continued with skipping a beat. "Take a moment to appreciate your surroundings, for where we stand shall serve as your tomb for eternity."

Demise began to pace around the area, his footsteps heavy and echoing throughout the endless wasteland.

"The hate for the gods that has boiled in my veins . . . You will taste it all in the bite of my blade."

Link's grip on his sword's hilt tightened, sweat gathering on his hands and face despite the chilly atmosphere.

"The only question is how long you will manage to remain standing before I take your life." Demise let his smirk show. "Try to keep it interesting for me, would you?

"And when you do fall, know that your world and everything it in will be mine to dominate . . . Mine to subjugate . . . Mine to rule! When I finish with you, you can take solace in knowing your friends and kin will soon follow, as I wipe all who oppose me from the face of this world!"

With that, the demon swiped his hand upward, turning the bright sky into toxic shades of brown and black. Link remained firm, moving into an appropriate fighting stance and glaring daggers straight into Demise's blood-red orbs.

The king scowled. ". . . It won't be long now. At last, the almighty power I've sought for millennia . . .

". . . I will take the Triforce for my own . . .

". . . And the world shall be under my foot for eternity!"

The final battle had begun.

Making the first move, Link's sword clashed against Demise's with a resounding iclank/i. He tried again, only to be faced with the same result, the demon blocking Link almost effortlessly. The hero grimaced and pulled his sword backwards, the metal sliding off of Demise's blade smoothly.

With a loud cry, Demise attacked, but Link was thankfully quick enough to block the move with his shield before it sliced through his head. The demon stumbled back with the stunning impact, giving Link time to slice his sword forward and pierce the thick skin covering Demise's torso.

Demise recovered quickly, striking across Link's shield and ending with the same result. The boy was quick enough to deflect the attacks and get his revenge with a slash across the chest, resulting in yet another abrupt cry from the self-proclaimed king's throat.

Link grinned in triumph.

Breathing out roughly, Demise took a few steps back and cast his hand across the sky once more. Link's defenses rose once it changed from its eery color to an dark blue, lightning illuminating up across the clouds and open color.

Link, gripping his blade so tightly he was leaving prints on the hilt, stepped around Demise cautiously, water sloshing under his boots and soaking them as he eyed the demon carefully.

Lightning clashed down upon Demise—and to the young hero's horror—lit up across the king's weapon, filling it with pure electricity. The villain immediately charged straight for Link, blade raised, and all Link could think to do was shove out his shield in hopes it wouldn't shatter in thousands of metal shards upon impact.

A few jolts of electricity made their way through him, but they felt minor, and the shield stayed perfectly intact.

Link glanced up, watching Demise stumble backwards, and the hero took the chance to slice the Master Sword across the pitch-black chest before their swords clashed and Link rolled to the side.

Perhaps. . . .

As Demise recollected himself, Link raised his sword just as lightning struck his position. He sword lit up identical to Demise's blade just before, and just as the mighty demon prepared to charge, Link sent the burst of electricity flying straight at him. Link became fearless.

After nearly half an hour of fighting this way, Link managed a strike that sent Demise flying onto his back. That was it; his chance to end this once and for all.

And it would have been a great victory, if his sword didn't get stuck in the ground after Demise rolled away faster than Link could pierce him. If Demise didn't attack him faster than he could wedge his sword out. If the attack didn't sting like a bitch and electrocute him so fucking painfully he couldn't breathe.

It didn't matter. Link welcomed the sweet release of the blackness that covered him and saved him from the pain of consciousness.
