Mother wants Wednesday to try making friends. They're summering in Limo, Ohio, of all places – Father has an opportunity to further his empire and Mother refused to be separated from him, so all of them have come to Ohio.

Ohio.

Granny walks around the neighborhood, gathering dogs; Uncle Fester haunts the shadier elements of town; Mother cultivates her garden and commands Father's minions; Pugsley terrorizes the freshmen; Father stares at Mother and drools; Pubert stays with Granny or Mother, and occasionally Uncle Fester.

And Wednesday must make friends. In the lunchroom, sitting alone, she studies each of the groups. She ignores all the stares and whispers; no one approaches her except Pugsley, and after he is revealed as her younger brother, the students stay even further away.

But it is the third day at this school, and Mother wants them both to make friends. Pugsley has already taken over the 'punk' clique. Even the meanest bullies leave him alone. Pugsley has no restraint, unlike Wednesday.

She has no interest in any of the clubs or teams.

"Fascinating style," a boy says, sitting across from her at the table. "One of my friends used to wear something like that." He tilts his head, giving her an assessing stare. She sees no fear in his eyes.

Interesting.

That afternoon, she finds the boy in a room with a dozen other students and the ineffective Spanish teacher (Granny already taught her seven languages, and Mother three more).

"Hello!" the boy says. "Are you here to join?"

Everyone else stares, so very afraid. But the teacher overcomes his instincts, so sure that she is a helpless child like all the rest, and welcomes her with a big grin. "Hey!" he says. "I'm Mr. Schuester and this is the glee club. Like Kurt said –are you here to join?"

"I'm Wednesday Addams," she says, looking at all the strangers before back to Kurt, the boy from lunch. "And I am here to join."

Mother will be pleased.
