Chapter1
Jane was running through a long corridor, she franticly looked in every direction searching for a way out. She heard crashing and loud footsteps from the hallway she'd just come from. The stairs. She thought and continued running. She swung a left heading for the stairs that lead up to the second floor of the school.
Somehow the grownups had gotten in. taking down the whole attack force, which was the only one they had. But there had been too many, once Jane realized that she'd ran. It had almost been too late; at least 20 grownups bombarded their way through the main doors. They managed to keep them at bay for a short while, only till the second wave though. Another group had come hurdling through and destroyed their line of defence. Before she could be completely barried in bodies she'd ran, hoping that someone else might fallow her, that someone else might have made it out too. No one had.
They'd only been living in the school a total of 3 weeks, moved back north out of the dead lands of old burned down south London. The ground was good for farming there, but they couldn't grow enough food to sustain everyone, but at least there were almost no grownups. Now being back in the regular city it was terrifying. And now Jane was alone; running through the halls desperately trying to find a way out, or even just someone else.
She passed multiple class rooms and closets. For the life of her she couldn't remember where the stairs to the roof were. Then without warning something grabbed her pulling her into an empty class room. A hot flash of panic surged through her, she squirmed trying to get free, the thing was holding a hand over her mouth. Jane pushed it into the closed door and stumbled away from her captor.
She spun around and to her surprise she saw a boy; completely dressed in black and looking rather dirty, she imagined she didn't look much better.
He rubbed the back of his head, "that hurt, I guess that's the thanks I get for trying to save someone for once."
Jane stood there stunned, like her mind had frozen into a block of ice.
"You alright?" he asked looking confused. Before he could say anything else she fell to her knees and felt her eyes well up with tears.
"They're gone she" whispered. "There all gone, i don't… they can't…"
He knelt down beside her and put a hand on her shoulder, "I know how you must feel, but right now you can't worry about them, right now first priority is you. You're still alive, and I'd like to keep you that way."
She wanted to ask who he was but the only thing she could manage was a small nod as he helped her up.
"Now, how about we find a way out of here; oh and the names Dylan."
