A/N: This fanfic is set during the New Doctor Who series 5 episode 1:The Eleventh Hour. More specifically, it's set during the 11th Doctor's little field trip to the moon in that episode (in which he makes a girl who has just spent approximately HALF HER LIFE waiting for him wait another TWO FULL YEARS for him to offer her a well-deserved spot in the TARDIS).
After saving the world The Doctor takes a little time to explore his new (and improved, don't let anyone tell you otherwise, sexy) TARDIS. The reconstructed console stands waiting with gleaming buttons that make his fingers twitch with anticipation. But just as he's about to push one he glimpses a small movement out of the corner of his eye. He turns and freezes as a pair of bright blue eyes meet his own.
For one-twelfth of a nanosecond The Doctor briefly wonders how this intruder could've possibly boarded his ship but then he spots the bowtie and it all comes rushing back. Clear, blue eyes, smooth, pale skin, and a mop of thick brown (still not ginger... darn) hair are all reflected back in the TARDIS's dark computer screen. This is him now, his new incarnation. Out of all his past selves this is the youngest he has ever appeared, but it's also the oldest that he has ever been. And all that does is remind him that if things don't play out right it might also be the oldest he'll ever be.
Sometimes The Doctor really hates paradoxes.
