Reflections in a Mirror
As Gwen stood in front of the mirror examining herself and the bump in her Ianto-chosen wedding dress, Jack came in behind her. It was not exactly going to be the wedding day she had imagined, being heavily pregnant by a shape-shifting alien and on the run from its mate who had a liking for human flesh. She had pictured a slightly more sedate occasion, but then again, working for Torchwood did have its occasional downsides. Jack came up behind her, putting his strong muscular arms around her body, his chin on her shoulder. Today she was marrying Rhys Williams, and she was sure of that choice. He had always been there for her, despite work, despite the lies. Always there to say he loved her. In a way, Always was Rhys' middles name. Gwen knew Jack liked her and Ianto was his source of comfort. If he had just said that he loved her, just once, or given her an indication, then today would be different. There would be no Jack behind her, maybe Owen or Ianto instead. There would be no Rhys in the other room getting ready, it would be Jack. Just once, that was all it would have taken, but there had been nothing. So she would have to continue working with, and for, Jack, be married to Rhys, and friends with Owen, Ianto and Tosh. And she would enjoy it, every second of it.
