I stand in front of the fridge, taking advantage of one of these rare times I have an appetite. I see the milk and it makes me think of the day they called my number for the army, before everything spiraled downhill. Back when milk all over the floor was the biggest problem. I stand in front of the fridge, mind spinning. One thought on repeat- you. The fridge beeps, reminding me where I am and that the rules of life still apply. I close the door, appetite lost, and make my way mindlessly back to the couch. The electricity bill is running up and I don't care.
